If there's one question that I'd put to Evans and Raynor at the proposed fans forum, it's this ;

Why can't you get ONE of our team to deliver a decent cross when we have a corner - or a free kick in a 'promising' position ? Surely work on this is done in training ? (( I realise that's 2 questions ))

We have had lots of corners in our games this season - probably more than I can remember for a long while -- and from how many have we scored ? -- Is it 3 this season ?

The quality of delivery has been poor - MOST of the time -- and it's a pity, because we should be able to use these occasions to put the defence under pressure -- and ( as I have previously stated ), where is the variation - we are too predictable -- and that doesn't help if you can't beat the first defender !

Must admit, I look back on those days with great fondness. I originally was in the Town End although back in them days, you could switch terracing at half-time, round the back of the old GRS. I think I'm right in saying the dug-outs used to be that side to, I'm sure someone will correct me if that's wrong.

I still even remember my first time in what is now the Medway Stand, did it not used to be called the Redfern Road? Someone had given me a free ticket to sit with them, as much as it felt a bit upmarket....don't laugh it was a seat, which were unheard of in them days! I always still preferred to stand. Although the ground toilets are still scarred on my memory, and will be for life. Jeez talk about prehistoric!

Well I certainly don't remember Chris Waddle scoring from a corner in the '' sellout'' FA cup game before we went into administration........ and I can't ever remember Johnny Simpson in goal ( when he wasn't having a pint and a cigarette. ) -- and it's a pity we still haven't got Dave Peach - we could sell him to Man City - I hear they're looking for a proper penalty taker.................... happy days ( as long as you avoided the toilets at Gills ) -- Coronavirus is a mere trifle compared with the Black Death you were likely to contract ----- even OUTSIDE the toilets - as the 'participants', therein competed to project their bodily fluids as far as possible.

I certainly used to do that - switch ends at half time. Would have been mid 60's; don't know when it became impossible to do that. I must admit I don't have any personal recollection of the dugouts being on the Gordon Road side, but I have seen photos of that era which show the dugouts on that side, so I'm pretty sure you must be right.

For my stint at the Rainham end I used to stand at the top of the terracing in the corner of the Rainham end next to the GRS, and the back of the structure was corrugated metal. The beats inbetween "and I'm feeling (bang, bang) glad all over" were joyfully bashed out on the corrugated metal with the conventional heavy leather shoes that we wore in those days. I also seem to remember being bloody freezing at most of the games I went to...

So you went to Gillingham Tech at Pump Lane too......... ;-)
 
Yes, I did Roger & Forge Lane......
in fact, we were in the same class for a while & used to know each other quite well ! heheh
(& now, seemingly, we both live in France)

Dave Page? Windsurfing was a passion for many years and my love of baked beans.....seemed a natural tag....;-)
