Lol. A few years ago a soldier named Pat Tillman, who was playing in the NFL on a pretty nice salary left to serve in the military, which is pretty admirable IMO, got killed, and a few year laters we find out it was because of friendly fire. Kind of embarrassing.

Whats not being from Bangor NI got to do with a Spanish goalie robbing a doughnut in Altrincham Cheshire?

    The plot thickens!

If De Gea had robbed this dounut durring the riots he would have got 6 months in jail like the rest of the scum. So in my opinion he was a lucky boy!! He should get community service at least as its examples like this of the rich getting off scott free as usual which was one of the catylists of the riots IMO.

There's a difference between looting and shoplifting. Looters were shot on sight in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. If you don't know the difference, then I respectfully suggest that you should learn the difference before trying to comment.

Is the difference that looters are often opitunistic passerbyes, whom often don't go out with the intension of commiting a crime where as shoplifter's are just scum who think that the world owes then something for nothing. If i'm wrong why don't you enlighten me of the definition with your learned wisdom.

I think Gerrard and many other footballers should have done community service for there crimes as it sets a good example for the rest of us. Nobodys perfect but just because your rich and famous doesn't mean you should be above reproach.

    Definition of theft is:
Was De Gea being dishonest? Was it a mistake? Was it a breakdown in communication given he barely speaks English? No dishonesty, no theft and no offence. Where you there? NO!!!!!!!!

Er, well he was clearly guilty of theft, the issue here is regarding the suitable punishment and if the fact it is such a trivial case of theft should be accounted for (i.e. Yes, for ****s sake, it was a ****ing doughnut).

Oh come on, be reasonable- were you there? Do you know what he was thinking? You don't have to speak English to know you can't go into a shop and sample their wares without paying for it, except for those promotional tables where someone offers you a miniscule freebie.
This thread obviously started out as a wind-up and has been taken too seriously. He committed a misdemeanour and should get the same treatment as anyone else- if he wasn't the Man U goalie no-one would have noticed anyway.
What the hell is a Krispy Kreme doughnut by the way?

I was not there and neither was anyone else on this site so we don't know the real circumstances. That's my point!! If he like any one else took it dishonestly without any intention to pay the owner, then its theft. If he forgot or made a mistake or there was confusion about the matter and it was shown his behaviour was not dishonest, it cannot be theft. Simple really.

How exactly? He was not arrested, charged or reported to the CPS. He was never brought to a court and found guilty. Where the police even called?

I too was making the point that none of us know his intention, but he must know you can't take stuff from a shop without paying. Maybe he intended to and forgot -who cares?
My bigger point was that this thread was just an opportunity for our lot to have a go at your lot, this stuff is constantly flying in both directions and shouldn't be taken too seriously. I doubt any LFC fan seriously thinks he should have the book thrown at him for it, but neither should he be exonerated because he's famous.
Anyway, I think the makers of "Krispy Kreme" doughnuts should be locked up for crimes against the English language- far greater offence in my book.
