DC is frustrated

Clarke on trying to get a striker:
"It has been frustrating. Everyone is telling me to sign a striker, but we have to get the right one and to do that in the middle of November is not easy. There are very few players available at the minute you would look at and think they will guarantee you 20 goals. I've had bids for three players turned down – but I have to be careful how I play it because I don't want the lads I have here to get edgy. We'll keep working with the boys because I have belief in this group of players. I am being inundated with names, but they are not the right ones for me and it is impossible to physically force the player I want out of their current clubs, but we will keep working hard to try to get someone in to help us out."

So DC's dilemma is to do what he has to do. Play with the players he has available. Get out on the training ground and practice getting the right players in the right positions with the right feeds to score goals. Whacking the ball through a congested penalty area, or lobbed crosses into a crowded box may go down in the stats as a scoring opportunity. but the success rate so far is pretty dismal.

DC publicly slagged off Ward for not bringing in a striker; now he's moaning that he can't get one!

He knows what he wants which is good. And I think our strikers could turn the corner, but we can't rely on that and if we do we'll probably miss out...

They've had more than 20 games to turn the corner - it's clear that we need a striker who can take chances. I would expect one or more of our strikers to be up around the 7-8 goal mark by now. They're nowhere near.
