As we know. Arsene Wenger has departed from Arsenal and today we hear that Paul Tisdale has left Exeter. As a result of this, DC has moved up to 7th in the table of longest serving managers currently employed within the top 4 leagues. As of today: 1 Jim Bentley - Morecambe - 7 years 19 days 2 Gareth Ainsworth - Wycombe - 5 years 250 days 3 Neal Ardley - Wimbledon - 5 years 234 days 4 Eddie Howe - Bournemouth - 5 years 231 days 5 Sean Dyche - Burnley - 5 years 214 days 6 Keith Hill - Rochdale - 5 years 130 days 7 Darrell Clarke - Bristol Rovers - 4 years 65 days 8 Mauricio Pochettino - Tottenham - 4 years 5 days 9 John Coleman - Accrington - 3 years 256 days 10 Chris Hughton - Brighton - 3 years 152 days I wonder how many of these 10 managers will still be in charge by the start of the season, by the start of the January transfer window and after the last game of next season!! In case any City fans are reading: 22 Lee Johnson - Bristol City - 2 years 115 days 13th on the list to 29th on the list have been in their current job between 2-3 years. 30th on the list to 45th on the list have been in their current job between 1-2 years. 46th on the list to 86th on the list have been in their current job for less than a year. 6 clubs currently have no manager. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_Premier_League_and_English_Football_League_managers
Eddie Howe seems to have been there longer than that, but I guess he's achieved a lot in a relatively short time.
He has had a previous spell with Bournemouth but left to join Burnley which didn't work out and went back to Bournemouth. These stats only count from their current spell at the club
Bad though that managers dont last long now. I think managers should have a bit of security like they cannot be sacked until the end of the season.
Clubs press the panic button too soon - need more continuity DC has done a really good job for you (though you still hear idiots on Radio Bristol saying he needs to go when you lose a couple in a row) I liked the way he fronted up in that very first season when you got relegated - the Chairman didn't (at least from what I saw).
You cant please everyone. You get some numpties at each club (especially Yeovil) who sound like a nutter on the radio after a game! Im glad Higgs kept DC on even though there were a lot of people demanding someone with more experience. Personally I was in the minority who wanted to keep DC.
The group I stand with on match days also wanted him to stay CJS. The one thing I remember when he took over was people were shouting for 2 up front, he played 2 in the first home game and we lost and someone posted careful what you wish for, most supporters thought at least he had a go at winning the game rather than trying to bore the opposition into submission and snatching a goal to win. We might not always win our games but they are rarely dull. Looking forward to the coming season and our future signings
