It wasn't Bremner who marked him it was one of City's young lads and one of them tackled Robson in front of the Kempton ( which was empty) and almost kicked him over the barrier onto the terracing. Could have been Les Thompson ? about 4,000 there from memory.
It wasn't Brentano ( I used to work with him) who kicked Robson into the Kempton though. We had some good reserve fixtures in those days, Central League division 1 ? One of the best games I ever saw at Boothferry Park was about that time v Everton reserves, they fielded nearly a full strength team and a very young City team with loads of local lads playing beat them 3-2 ? We had a young lad called Kirk playing and he scored the winning goal and ran Everton ragged. Kevin Radcliffe actually applauded young Kirk off the field at the end. It was a fabulous performance by City's lads and I doubt if there were more then 200 there to see it.
I suppose the stakes were higher those days for reserve football. With small first team squads, it was a genuine chance to stake a claim for a first team shirt.
