The price we got for Modric was not due to media pressure from Sukor or anyone else.

IF we got offered £40m last year from Chelsea, that was a good offer we should have taken, but I don't think Chelsea offered that, they offered x plus players, which is a different thing.

Modric wanted out, irrespective of tapping up or not, it'll doubtless be the same with Bale.

id rather take 34 from Madrid or whatever they paid for him.

If Levy had sanctioned the move and Chelsea were sat at the top looking strong as they are then many Spurs fans would have vilified Levy for strengthening our rivals etc etc.

I think Chelsea did offer that much...we all know how things panned out.

there are many ways of complementing a player without trying to link him to another club...it doesnt have an impact in the sense that Bale wont go running to Levy tomorrow saying 'i want to play for Madrid i didnt know they wanted me so much'. However we know that this is a form of tapping up..why do certain managers refuse to comment on players playing for other clubs? because it is tapping up.

next time Suker should say something along the lines of 'Spurs have got themselves a superstar in Gareth Bale'.

Yes. For once, with Levy, it wasn't all about money. He was rightly pissed off with the way that The Chavs had used The Fail to blatantly tap up on Modric. Plus, of course, it was infinitely preferable that he didn't go to a Prem rival. I thought everybody understood that!

Fair comments SL, so where's Sukor or the media to blame for the deal. Not at all, that's my point.

I don't think Chelsea did offer that much, but the point is Levy didn't deal for various reasons whatever was offered, but that wasn't down to Davor Suker.

Similarly if we sell Bale, it won't be down to Sukor. He's pointing out what a great player Bale is, something that is at times lacking from 'knocking' Spurs fans. If Bale wants out, it'll be due to wanting to go to a bigger club, just the same as with Modric. It'll then be a case of what Levy thinks is the best deal and when.

Did you actually watch the game? Have you heard what Chris Coleman's own assessment was? Bale did make one decent run and got a shot away which was well saved, this sequence of events lasted about 15 seconds. The rest of the game he was anonymous <ok>

if bale is playing left wing he needs someone to give him the ball. If the central mids are getting dominated then of course he will be a bit anonymous. That is hardly his fault. Should he go in field out of position and leave his full back exposed???

That might have something to do with the rest of the Wales team being ****.
They included a keeper that's not good enough to get into Crystal Palace's first XI and a centre-back who's having a mare with Swansea, who gifted a goal to a Bayern Munich striker.
Most of the Croatian players are very good. Most of the Welsh players aren't.

Modric is very well rested at the moment, too... <whistle>

The fact that Ramsey is captain of the Wales team says just about everything. Fully expect them to improve enormously in the next few years though.

YV says Spurs and Chelsea are not rivals so I doubt many Spurs fans would have been bothered (according to him)

On principle I think Levy did the right thing but took too long to do it.
 
Really looking to Ossie and Ricky back home saying that Messi is great.
But his true proof of greatness is to do what Maradona did with making a
club like Napoli league champions in their home league from nowhere.

And that Spurs would be a perfect club to do such a thing with. :)
