I think he's made more of a case than Huddlestone or Livermore and he's also got much less competition for places in his position. If we're going to have an England player this season I reckon it'll be him.
He looked a more capable defender than Jagielka on Saturday - that is for sure. As for Cahill, I don't rate him anyway.
Schezney (sp.) has only just got the Poland number one spot back, he is very average. He makes huge mistakes, and he has at least one every three games in him which is far to high. Much prefer a decent, consistent keeper than him. Begovic would be perfect, although i have heard good things about Martinez to.
No abuse from me. He should be a shoe in with a more fashionable club. Showed he was far better than Jagielka in the Everton game (what game was Garth Crooks watching!!). If he's not included in the WC squad its a travesty.
WC squad is a different matter, as he could easily drop off form after Christmas. Because the Chile and Germany friendlies are in about 3 weeks his current form comes into effect.
He's played a handful of matches. Let's see how good he's done at the end of the season. I know we're desperate for some success, but come on.
I don't get where you are going with that. Surely he's played the same number of matches has every other England defender - bar Smalling, who has played about 60 minutes. On current form - who has played better than him so far this season at CB who is going for an England place?
I think it's blatantly obvious what i mean, Macca. Roy Hodgeson isn't going to swap personnel in his team because Davies has had a little bit of success in a two month spell. Jagielka, Cahill etc, are in there becuase they've been decent for their clubs for a prolonged period. If Davies keeps it up then so be it.
You do realise one of the points in friendlies is to try something new and experiment, don't you? Also, what about Andros Townsend? Has a couple of good games and is in the squad...
Just because he's doing well in the premier league doesn't mean he should walk into the England team. Roy Hodgeson knows the players he picks, and they'll all be in his future plans despite it being a friendly. Davies isn't used to that level. Infact, he was average for most of the championship last season. If England have any asperations of winning an international tournament, we need the better players to be playing for the top clubs, not ones who do well initially and then fade. City will have a period where we're not be winning and will fall down the table. Plus, a token cap in a meaningless friendly is ****in pointless.
Who are we playing in these friendlies? Germany- we'll want to see how well we compete against one of the best sides in the world. No chance he'll play anybody new. USA- see how good/ poor we are against potential competition before the WC kicks off. Same as above. Denmark- dunno even why we've made this happen. Especially, at that point in the season. FA taking the piss. I'd rtaher have Davies with his feet up concentrating on playing for City than having Bedtner in his back pocket.
It's impossible to answer that. Most PL fans won't know much about how well Davies has played, and by the same reasoning there will be other defenders in top form who go unnoticed to us. Good centre half displays don't get on MOTD so how would we know? We only really know about the three who have played the position for us this season.
Yes, I know I'm being fussy but Faye's aimless clearances are one reason we can't keep the ball. It's a shame because when he plays it around he can actually be quite skillful.
Nah, I'd keep Faye in. He's been absolutely class since he came in and with him and Davies, we're a massive threat from set pieces. As for Davies, his current form should see him in the squad (not starting) but Smalling will still probably get a call-up again.
This. The problem is when you say a certain player should be in the England side, too many people assume you mean the first XI...
