I hope Jol loans rather than sells Stockdale

I totally agree WDWW. And I hope he doesn't loan him to another Premier League team. We're not so secure in our status to be sure that Stockdale's performances for someone else wouldn't cost us. I know he wouldn't be allowed to play against us for Swansea (or whoever), but he could enable one of our rivals to get enough points to slip ahead of us. If the Europa run had a negative effect and we found ourselves in a relegation battle, it could come down to the finest of margins.

The problem is that Stockdale is good enough to play in the Premier league. I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to go to a championship club if he has a chance to play in the top flight, particularly this year with the Euro Championships in the summer and him already in and around the England squad. Let's hope Jol can deal wisely with this - possibly his first major problem to resolve.

I can honestly say if Jol sold Schwarzer tomorrow I wouldn't be phased.
It's exactly the same at my football club, even though its a very low level, it's hard to keep two keepers happy.
But you need to have a reliable back up in case one goes out injured...

    Decision time..

If it comes to decision time, make Stockdale first choice and look to sell Schwarzer. We'd need a new experienced back-up, but we'd need that anyway if Stockdale goes out on loan. Does anyone know anything about this Hungarian we've got on trial?

I didn't realize Dorus de Vries had left Swansea for Wolves, and Swansea don't have a keeper, thats why they have been connected with Stockdale.
Maybe Swansea should look at Sorensen at Stoke who wants to leave.

I wouldn't sell him, I think he was unlucky to get the chop when Schwarzer came back from the Asia Cup. Schwarzer has just had an operation on his groin and though he played against NSI I'd keep hold of Stockdale as it will be a long hard season for an aging keeper.

Haven't seen any of the other keepers that we have been rumored to be looking at.
    Kameni ? Ruffier ? The Hungarian ?

I wouldn't mind if we loaned Stocky to Swansea to prime him for when he becomes our number 1 next season.

I get worried when we seem to go for unknown goalkeepers, I feel scared that they will turn into a Tony Warner, when needed.
I think we take lightly what a change in keeper can do for a defences confidence.
At the moment we have both Schwarzer and Stockdale, both have established a good understanding with the central defenders, and there was no loss in confidence when Stockdale took over.

I'd rather we get a Van der Sar than a Tony Warner as a replacement.

Come on SuperBri, as we speak Blackburn are on the point of scooping up Tony Warner. A team of that calibre, they know quality when they see it .. anybody else there that's ex-Fulham?

Serious note - Swansea have put in a bid to buy Stockdale; they are not seeking a loan arrangement.

According to the Beeb, Swansea were only considering a bid, but I'll take your word for it C58. I think we should let Schwarzer go before Stocky (like everyone else), but somehow I can't see it turning out that way.

According to the sun (hardly a reliable source) today Jol is looking to loan rather than sell stockdale. He recognises stockdales need for 1st team football but doesn't want to lose either keeper permanently. As others have said swansea seems the likely destination.

Saw on the BBC sports thread that Swansea are considering a bid for David Stockdale "Englands future goalkeeper".
If he is allowed to leave then its an absolute disgrace, why cant Fulham play a rotation system.
lets face it MS can only have another 2 seasons at top flight,if that.
Many may say that we have got Etherington, but what I have seen of him he has a long way to go,let him sit on the bench
for a season and see how its done, because if we have a back up goalkeeper, who has to be drafted into the team for
whatever reason, and he makes a right cock up,we could find ourselves before the next transfer window opens in deep s..t

Hi Cottagers, this Stockdale to Leeds (season-long loan) rumour has now been picked up by Sky Sports too.

The problem we've had with our previous two keepers Ankergren and Schmeichel (and the problem with the other keeper we're being linked with, Lonergan) is that they can pull off the diving saves fine, but their all-round game is lacking, no real communication with the defence and no command of the box from set pieces which gives the opposition a big advantage. I saw a bit of Stockdale during his run for you last season, but not really enough to tell whether he's a good all-rounder or just another of these one-dimensional Hollywood-saves keepers. What's the verdict?

Mature beyond his years - will be a very good (possibly great) keeper. Commanding for a young, fairly inexperiencd goalie
