Bumi - earth, putra - son. As in Megawati Sukarnoputri - Megawati daughter of Sukarno. Can't really speak Malay nor have ever been Malaysia but once had the misfortune to have been married to that other lot that speak the same language. Big mistake!
Greetings from Keffalinia fellow not606ers! It's a hard life but someone has to do it. Surely we have learnt over the years that things that go on behind closed doors are never quite what they appear to be when examined in the media? With the money pouring into the Premier League, despite a near global depression, the money spent on QPR (assuming at least some of it belonging to Mittal) and the hope of even more success and new revenue streams opening up (imagine the few new SOuth KOrean fans we've seen at HQ wearing Park shirts and multiply that by a LOT for the Asian market), why would anyone want to walk away from that? That does not make good business sense and, above pretty much all else, Amit and Lakshmi are sound businessmen. Having said that, there are matters beyond finance eg a spat and falling out with irreconcilable differences. Personally I cannot see it but a bit concerned that Macintyre is even thinking it (if it is actually his tweet).
Lucky sod! I was there at the beginning of August, one of our stops on a cruise, clearest water I've ever seen...
Fair enough but we won't get many fans in Indonesia (population 240 million) while the club is owned by a Malaysian (population 27 million). Fact.
This is post 19 Bhatia has gone very quiet on twatter, which is unusual for him. Nothing since the 10th Sept.
Cheers Secret Squirrel. I think I read this in a different way to you more along the lines of IF anything is happening it is likely to be a buyout by TF, rather than a statement that they are selling. Still, as I said above, doesn't bother me either way.
TF has always struck me as a Malaysian Flavio. There's an old song about men like them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnDPGSqKMjI&feature=related
I put a link up earlier, anyway here it is Today at 9:28am, cpr wrote: Well, the woomer wodney, above, says they were talked out of taking up the option. Just saying like. Is it coz Amit's ego has taken a bit of a bashing by limelight Tony? Markqpr Re: Bhatia and Mittal doubts about QPR investment? « Reply #19 Today at 10:01am » Does it? (I sometimes can't be arsed to read really long posts unless they are from Ingham, especially if they start with the words 'From a year ago'!) I'd have thought it was closer to the truth that Fernandes deferred on the option for the first year and is now taking it up. I seriously doubt that it's anything thing to do with Amit's ego, more likely that his 33% share of costs has drastically risen and from his previous time when he was in charge that is in contrast to his preferred speed and level of 'investment'. Mittal bought in under Flabio and Bernie so obviously were attracted to their business plan of minimal investment more so than Tune's sudden massive splurge and if they get out now they'll probably receive a good profit on their share price and either get their loans paid back in full or within an adequate time frame including the interest. Now makes sense for them in that respect and also with the new training ground, player's wages and future stadium costs it would be a massive financial commitment that Mittal has never shown any sign of making and so would need to get out now before the bills for all that lot start turning up! You have to remember the guys on that board are hoping for failure so they get off on negative news. They have some kind of weird aversion to success.
