This morning i was thinking along the same lines. If Mr Mittal does decide to sell up, does that mean Amit will have to go too ?? Is Amit just the figurehead to the Mittal riches or does he actually have some 'firepower' of his own ??
The enthusiastic use of social media (esp. Twitter) by the likes of Fernandes and Bhatia is not without risk. It looks great when they're in the good books of fans or of the customers of their businesses. But it also creates such a feeling of closeness and intimacy (when compared to traditional corporate communications) that interesting repercussions may follow if things ever turn sour. Both Fernandes and Bhatia have tethered their personal brands to the goodwill of a pretty volatile group, i.e. football supporters. If a good number of those supporters ever feel let down, the love-in may well take on quite another tone.
There's a positive to everything, in the Conference South at least we won't have to deal with The Scum and their support!
Look on the bright side, this may all be about the Mittals getting leverage in negotiations with TF to raise their shareholding to 50% for a true joint venture.
The Ryman League is even friendlier, i look forward to us packing out Champion Hill when we play Dulwich Hamlet!...
This All always take things with a 'negative'. The Mittals might want the club and do what they did before and 'force a hand'?
I don't know tbh honest and all i do is listen to the people and read stuff and that's why i think it's all BS. Examples: PB on Sky this week talking about the future plan, New stadium/Training ground and all. buying all these decent players. Players joining saying they want to be part of this. Amit tweet last week saying he loves QPR TF saying recently that he is very happy at what is going on Record TV deal this year which any businessman would not miss out on. Or do i listen to: I guy that lives in a bin bag and is mates with the old bitter regime as well as being mad as a hatter. And a washed out reporter that to my knowledge has never had a good word to say about the club since his old mate was sacked. I know what i will believe
I'll agree with this. I do think we need the Mittals. Not so much for Finance but for the continuity aspect - we're embarking on what we hope will be a meteoric rise and it comes with a lot of forced growth. It's not quite all eggs in one basket and the infrastructure (ie the right people to move us forward) are still in place but I'd sleep easier if I knew that all the major stakeholders on this gamble (even if it is being sensibly balanced where possible) had been with the club for more than 13 months.
Interesting thread, I think Eamon is on the money. But none of us know how the money works, so it's all guesswork. Whatever the truth of this rumour, I'm not worried about the Mittals staying or going. If they wanted to do a Roman they would have done so already, so I don't believe they have much personal cash at stake. Amit is a lovely guy and was crucial with the Goons, but let's face it, this and his venture capital company seem very much like treats from the father in law. Speculation - TF was rejected by the boards of Norwich and West Ham. I'm guessing it is because in the innately conservative world of football club ownership, existing investors were terrified of Tony's vision, ambition (buzzword alert), the sheer speed at which he does things ( see his other companies, no half measures/ slow build), and the realization that, with him on board, they would soon be marginalized. Perhaps the Mittals have also come to this conclusion. Who knows, but not worth worrying about from my perspective.
Good honest post there from Ellers. His reasoning is astute and that's as good a post as you'll find on the subject. Eamo and Stan give good snippets too from a business perspective.
What swords do we have here..is this the old one or the new re-incarnation....? Also it could be DT... As for the posts...I'm gonna take the safe opion and "Always back sb73"!!
http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2012/03/21/woes-keep-piling-up-on-tony-f/ Looks like some of the stories about TF may be motivated by Malaysian bigotry as i suspected. Don't know much Malay but do know the three words used in this article about him. Bangsa, agama, negara = "race", religion and nation. TF fails on the first two for some Malaysians and is second class on the third due to being neither Muslim nor ethnically Malay which is a massive deal in Malaysia. (boleh means can/permitted etc)
What is the word Imaz? Bumiputra? Son of the soil or something like that? Long time since I've been to Malaysia, but it's long been set up to keep the Malays happy, while the Chinese and Indians create the wealth. Fantastic food though, one of the best meals of my life in a shack restaurant on the front in Malacca - chilli crab. So good went back and had exactly the same the next day, which is usually the kiss of death, but not in this case.
It has been a while since I was there but always felt it was a political powderkeg. Some of the guys on site used to get Sun newspapers and anything offensive was blacked out (basically all of it I hear you say!) The best (and biggest) prawns I have ever had in a curry though.
