If this deal does go through, Luciano Becchio would be an affordable replacement - and you'd still have enough left for that lick of paint mentioned earlier in the thread <whistle>

Looks to me like the deal has been done hence why Dids isn't playing today!

Who's to say that this deal has been agreed for sometime and mick will have his targets already lined up before Monday! Just really don't know what to think about Town at the moment but time will only tell.

Who the **** is playing up front today then.......Nouble & Murphy is all we have...pure class.

MM has had a shocking start to the season, poor management on his part so far, done his credibility an awful lot of damage!

I wouldn't be surprised if Tommy is sold as well before Monday!

Palarse are poised for a 3 Million offer and tbh I wouldn't mind if this happened!

Don't get me wrong I love Tommy to bits but 3 Million is a very good price.

This way we get a solid back four with chambers/Berra and two steeled full backs!

Interesting times that's for sure!

Tbh Dids is wasted here anyway, he is light years ahead, in talent, than the rest of the dull squad Mick has assembled!!

Warky, it is interesting times ahead, i said Mick needed to pull a few rabbits out of the hat but now we need about 4 or 5 rabbits!!

Let's lay off Mick a bit. He will have known he's losing Cressy and likely to lose McGoldrick too for a while (these deals are not done overnight). How he's
supposed to be motivated to try and win games to get promoted - which let's face it is an impossible task with the way Evans is running the club - I'm sure
he's as fed up as we all are.

In any other business it would be called asset stripping first Cresswell, then McG, possibly Smith and or Berra, if i was a cynic i might suggest that Evans is getting ready to cut and run. He sells off the Clubs most valuable players and doesnt make that money available to re invest for replacements, not that theres time for us to do that so late in the transfer window, it all sounds very suspect to me but perhaps im just being cynical.
Theres no doubt ME got his fingers seriously burnt by Laurel and Hardy by paying inflated fees and wages for rubbish players on their say so, but he employed the two clowns and then had to compensate them to get rid of them, nice one Marcus. And then we come to the Clegg fiasco, fancy employing someone with no football experience as CEO! I ll never forget seeing that clown riding round and round Donny railway station in his new white Jaguar, there was plenty of parking spaces but he didnt want one he just wanted to be seen. Nice one Marcus.
If Smith and Berra follow Cressy and McG out the door Ill cancel my season ticket payments, very pissed off.

MM knew and was/is happy with the way the club is being run by Evans when he signed his new contract so can't see why after a few poor results it's suddenly back to being rotten from the top down.

Need to get a bit of perspective, it's still very very early in the season long way to go, if Goldy goes I'd hope that he would be replaced with a marquis signing but if not maybe a few youngsters will get the chance who knows, who would have thought we could get millions for a 'headless chicken' anyway....:emoticon-0105-wink:.

Harold Bishop starts today lets hope he has a good one......come on you blues.

If we get 8m for David then that's a good deal. We'd actually be making a good profit for a change. Tommy wouldn't be a great miss either if it means Chambo moves back to the middle and we play with attacking full backs.
I only worry about the replacements we'll end up with.

Excellent post FieldMarshall, all this prudence and bleating about FFP (which with any luck will blown out the water with megaclub legal challenges) is all down to appointing the two worst manages in our history.

That quote of ME’s strategy that Hampy posted pretty much condemns us to perpetual medi-sodding-ocrity, what with they way somewhat more ambitious and energetic clubs are approaching things.

The only way out of this glacially slow method of “improvement” is if a manager with real nous is allowed a bunch of money to improve the squad. If Mick gets the thick end of 10M from Smiffy and McGoldrick to spend on transfers and wages, plus a couple of the loans he’s been talking about, it might be the only way we can break the nightmare ME strategy. If two players can be turned into four or five new permanent ones plus a couple of decent loans it might actually move us forwards a bit.

Of course, that relies on us getting that much and ME actually giving it to the manager.

I’m not so sure about the whole asset stripping thing: if ME wants to make money out of this caper the club will only be of sufficient value if it’s in the premier league. The inter-company loans are astronomical and said companies will have their own owners apart from ME himself, so all this magic-the-debt away because it’s ME Group and the it’s-all-a-tax-dodging-stunt is the stuff of the tin-foil-hat wearing “capitalist conspiracy” Guardianista.

Did I read somewhere that the Smith to Palace thing involves Williams coming back on a season long loan, or was that mere interweb rumour?

I'm worried that there will be an exodus of our better players leaving if McG goes. Everyone will see our real ambition if the correct replacements aren't brought in and I could see Berra and Chambo both going if David and Tommy are sold.
Hopefully it all turns out for the best.

I'm not worried about an exodus of the current crop, I'd be more worried about the tumbleweed in the stands.

I was going to say something about that too Hampy, I don't expect a big attendance at the next home match if reinforcements aren't brought in.
