In no way should he have to resign from one. He shouldn't however be able to vote on any decisions directly involving United - ie bans etc.

It's common practice for people who are members are boards to be asked to leave the room when certain things on the agenda are discussed.

I think it's just a title anyway - we all know LFC run the FA which is why Suarez keeps getting preferential treatment all the time <whistle>

Yeah, we're definitely going wrong somewhere.

Seriously, a VC's sphere of influence is going to go well beyond his actual vote isn't it? My opinion is that nobody should be able to sit on the board of a governing body when they have a clear vested interest in one of the constituent parts of that body.
I would hold the same opinion if it was one of ours.

Less predictable things to do behind closed doors in six minutes of Fergie Time:

Even if Mr. Gill had the best of intentions- and will approach this with the purest of minds... it is a smear for United- because now, everyone will suspect even stronger of corrupt motives.

Let's face it- if something comes his way that may impact United- it's going to be hard for him to turn against them isn't it? As said- conflict of interest- and such a clear one, he is risking some very ugly pr exposure for United. The FA were foolish to appoint him- and he was foolish to go for the position. Overall a really bad idea...

... a really bad idea- even if he is walking into the job with the disposition of an angel.

Yip.if it was a club vote: I'd say fair enough: experienced guy from an effective club. Even if its a majority when we're in the minority (more PL clubs think he's the man for the job!). But it's not. It (even if we get rid of LFC bias) it's an appointment from a big club to make sure big club interests prevail....take the LFC bias away...it's a bad move.

its like a golden circle of jobs too, they just keep moving around picking up multiple fat cheques for doing essentially less work per day than the average work a day joe, its all a fkn show, its sewn up chaps like everything else. RA has muscled his way in, the sheik I'm not so sure about but money talks in the end.

The new rules are to prevent power shifts in the upper echelons of football aristocracy in Europe. Berlusconi can have milan reinstated in europe via his pals. Platini can alter a tournament qualification system to suit his team and funnily enough the officials get short term blindness too that appears to suit his wish to see France qualify.

What FIFA and UEFA fear most is a new governing body with its own leagues, fair competition, that is what FIFA and UEFA fear most and claim to promote.

The same can be said for Manchester United, fear of loss of control hence this move
