On topic, since this thread, De Gea has improved big time, he's kept us in games as well, and made one of the saves of the season against Sunderland as well.

He's not the best or worst keeper in the league, hes cost Utd this season as well as had good games, he's nothing to brag about tbf.

If there is one area where we do have the strongest player in the league, then it is goalkeeper. De Gea is a world class keeper. If we hadn't had him in goal, things could have been even worse than they currently are. Yes he made a clanger against Sunderland, but one mistake can be forgiven, particularly in a tournament nobody particularly cares about.

Cech is the only goalkeeper that rivals him, and that's largely down to being so much more experienced, but I'd far rather have a young De Gea, as given time he will be a lot better than Cech:biggrin:

He never actually made that many errors when he first came, there was just a witch hunt from the media against him, highlighting every tiny error, even if they didn't cost us a goal, because he was so young and so expensive. He was just an easy target. Yet had a more experienced keeper made a similar error, it would barely get a mention in the paper:biggrin:

Are you basing his "world class" status on your opinion or do you have proof?

He's not currently the best keeper in the prem and can't get a game for Spain.;)

He will get his chance with Spain in time, he's only young after all. I take it Jamie Carragher must have been pants, by your getting a game your country theory, and that was a struggling England side he couldn't get a game with, not the World and European Champions

Just because he doesn't get a game for Spain, it does not mean he isn't world class. Spain have a 32 year old keeper with 150+ caps so you can understand why he doesn't get a game, but eventually he will get his opportunity. He's still only a young player:biggrin:

So hes "world class" because he doesn't play for his country?

  19. Struggling England side that was referred to as "The Golden Generation" <laugh>

Can't recall too many Liverpool fans calling JC World Class. Quality player who we wouldn't swap for anyone but never world class.

Some mancs(not all)assume a player is "world class" just because he plays for Utd, the kids a good keeper no doubt about that and might attain the status in future years.
