Certainly worth a gamble on a free. Seems a bit Gallagher like in his description and I think he's the type of player that served us well with Nigel before - hungry and with a point to prove. Probably need another winger to go with him as well mind. I like the Marshall lad at Stoke.
Have to disagree with my fellow Swans fans, I am glad to see the back of Cotterill. As has been indicated he did start off well with us and looked quite classy but there is an important flaw in this player...he has no heart or bottle. If things are not going his way then he will hide and not want the ball, happened more and more during his time with us culminating with his final first team appearance at Leicester last season. He just gave absolutely nothing in that first half and was rightly subbed at half time, rarely have I been more frustrated with a Swans player for lack of any sort of effort. He was told in the summer that he wasn't going to feature in Brendan's plans yet made no real effort to find another club as he knew he was on good money with us and would be unlikely to earn such a high income elsewhere. He therefore stayed and kicked his heels rarely even playing for the reserves and so we've now had to pay him off for the 18 months left on contract which probably runs into many thousands of pounds, money that could have been spent on a new recruit. You could say he was only getting what he was entitled to and could blame Sousa/Jenkins for paying £600,000 for a player who never fulfilled his potential but you could say that about every other club (and there have been many) who also took him on yet let him go when they realised that his interest in football relates to money rather than just wanting to play.
talented lad, knew he was better than Brizzle but obviously something wrong somewhere. Can think of a certain manager with a bit of something who has had a lot of jobs for a relatively young guy in his field too. Someone else who can't deal with authority and working within a structure perhaps?
