I don't think you can doubt his impact on music and pop culture. So many bands and artists now would list him as a musical influence. I'm not fussed on a lot of his stuff but some of it is just genius.
To be honest I liken him a bit to Michael Jackson. Again not to everyones taste but still influencing so many artists today in both the musical and of course dancing. Artists like this transcend music/culture, and whether they are your cup of tea or not, I think you can recognise the impact they have whether you think it is in a good or bad way. They have a kind of magnetism and genius that just attracts the masses.
