but he came in and did very well for milan in 2 loan spells. of course i know he wont come here <doh>

to answer hampshire, he has more technical ability than either of those 2 in his little toe. he could play for most serie a or liga BBVA teams and do a good job.

P/S a 29 or 30 year old beckham was pulling up trees at real madrid and playing in world cups and euro championships, so yes, maybe he'd be good enough, or maybe not <doh> <laugh>

I agree too old and expensive but sometimes you got to spend to accumulate think of the marketing opportunity they could get from him in Asia! It defo improve our image out there! But maybe more of a player coach role?! Lol we can dream!

Some of the most ridiculous comments I've ever heard regarding a footballer of his obvious ability. I'm with Swamp on this one, no matter how much you dislike him as a person you can't argue about his talent, even at 37 there are teams lining up to sign him. I remember the crowd that turned up to see George Best play for Fulham at Ninian park & he would be no different.

Got to agree, Beckham is still quality, I also see Drogba is looking to FIFA for a loan move to keep in trim for the African Cup of Nations :)

Now Drogba I'd go for. He would tear Championship defences apart unlike.......................some old bloke with funny hair styles who has a matchstick wife with odd facial expressions - like she's always trying to squeeze one out.

Its all about opinions guys. We may not agree but we are entitled to say our piece unlike another board we all know about. <whistle>

Now don't bloody well ban me TAFF.

Every time I read threads like this I remember the last time we signed not 1 but 2 'past-their-best' stars. One got injured and did nothing all season and the other one was too slow. Anyone remember them?
So are we going to sign another?
    I hope not.

Snagg, if I recall JFH did reasonably well for us as did Trevor Sinclair, now Fowler could have been great for us if he wasn't injured. I, and I'm guessing most on here, know how good Beckham was but I think we all agree he would'nt get much game time with us even if there was the remotest possibility MM would go for him and he would accept the move.
Drogba, now he is someone I'd love to see in a city team but that isn't going to happen is it...

We had enough of watching Bothroyd falling over. Do we want the king of divers now?

BBC says Chelsea want him back on loan (maybe not after yesterday's changes) so probably a little out of our league and he would cost more than Beckham - nice thought though.

So we're not looking to sign Becks and Drogba? What a pairing, BEcks whipping in crosses for Drogba.

Disappointed now, I thought they were both DONE DEALS. :bandit:

And by 2030, everyone in the country WILL BE an ex Chelsea manager. It's the governments approach to getting us out of the debt crisis, everyone will have had a big pay out from Obramovich.

I turned up for that Fulham game, they had George Best and Rodney Marsh, i think about 20,000 turned up that day, which was alot for that particular period in our history. Can remember the groans to this day when the announcement, approx 2 nano seconds before the teams came out...George Best and Rodney Marsh will NOT be playing today. I remember being absolutely gutted at the time and if memory serves me correctly it was a boring 0 - 0 draw.

Fowler was an ass who took us for a seasons salary before running off once he was fit. A real mercenary. JH, I thought was good for us actually. An important part of the FA cup run that season.

agree about JFH, came in and did a job, played 40 odd games, fowler was just passing through and picking up a wage like many players in football do, was unlucky with injuries but some shrewder people (myself not included) knew straight away it was money down the drain, the rest of us were delirious at signing a once excellent finisher.

isaw, it takes a special player to come in and instantly swell crowd numbers - only time i've ever seen that was with cardiff rfc, when we signed the legend jonah lomu the crowds instantly went up by 2-3k, basically paying for his wage, and beckham is certainly in that category.
