Out of interest did you watch the documentary last night?

He is becoming very much more self confident, can make a speech in front of a crowd and has a natural statesman like quality that most people appear to warm to, he's a very likeable fella.. (you can never please everyone!).. As a 'politician' within FIFA or UEFA. I think he could bring some much needed qualities, the appearance of integrity being one!

When has intelligence ever been a political requirement anyway?

Blatter came across as a very insular, thick skinned man without much real intelligence, the fact he can't see he has done anything wrong proving the point, but he has won world support by including smaller countries in to the 'FIFA Family' and making them feel like they do have a voice, the very antithesis of how England was perceived previously when running FIFA. Beckham appears to me to be the one man who could rid us of that reputation (maybe Gary Lineker was once too but that ship has sailed.) but we would have to very much stay away from 'England hosting the world cup' scenario as that would just reignite the distrust issues yet again.

I can't see why he couldn't do the Miami thing alongside this?

Genuinely baffles me why some judge Beckham on their like / dislike of his wife? She seems irrelevant to me.

absolutely concur, although I think Victoria was the calming hand behind "the throne" without her I think he would be less than he is now...

Probably true, she knows exactly what she wants and probably is the brains behind the marketing brand DB and VB

Beckham also held conversations in Spanish
I know he played for Madrid, but I've heard that Bale cannot speak Spanish yet - no-one says he's thick

Actually, I can understand this. It's because she comes across as a cross between the iron lady and the ice queen - extremely critical and very much in charge. You could never get David to work for you, or do anything in fact, unless fully endorsed by she-who-must-be-obeyed. I would guess that this probably played a major part in DB's fall-out with SAF, because she had more of a say over David than he did and it interfered with his Manchester United work. She effectively 'owns' David, both the person and the brand. It's just like doing business with any footballer - you first have to go through their 'agent' which is what she is.
I may be doing her a huge injustice by saying this about her - she may be a really nice person - but she doesn't come across as nice at all. Maybe she should apply some of her marketing genius to improving her own public image(?)

Hmmm maybe so? I have never taken that much notice of her to form an opinion.

If you watch the You tube clip of her being interviewed by Ali G you will see that she has a good sense of humour.
