Neville and Carragher were asked last night who the best defender in the league is, based purely on defensive duties.

Both agreed all our back 4 are class but both went for Dave. Given Neville has been one of the best full backs in the P.L era and clearly knows his stuff, so this means a lot more coming from him. Dave has to be one of the best buys in the premier league in recent years at what 7 million? Absolute bargain and exactly why we weren't prepared to pay silly money for a promising but incomplete Luke Shaw.

Certainly rarely gets beat man for man and bloody consistent. Quality player.

I expect he'll be back in the starting line up at the weekend.
 
He is the most underrated defender in the league imo. Doesn't get spoken about enough.
