Neville and Carragher were asked last night who the best defender in the league is, based purely on defensive duties. Both agreed all our back 4 are class but both went for Dave. Given Neville has been one of the best full backs in the P.L era and clearly knows his stuff, so this means a lot more coming from him. Dave has to be one of the best buys in the premier league in recent years at what 7 million? Absolute bargain and exactly why we weren't prepared to pay silly money for a promising but incomplete Luke Shaw. Certainly rarely gets beat man for man and bloody consistent. Quality player. I expect he'll be back in the starting line up at the weekend.
Should have easily been in the team of the year last year as well. Shaw's inclusion was another example of everyone over hyping English youngsters.
