I'm not sure what to make of the stuff David M comes out with to be honest. A while back, at the height of all the Mittal take over rumours, he said something like "I can't say anything, but the next 48 hrs are huge for the club". Nothing happened and he never said anything else. This makes me take everything he says with a huge dose of salt!!
It sounds as if NW is not far from walking - what's stopping him is that if he goes voluntarily, he may not get a pay out for unfair dismissal. Unless, that is, he can show that the Goons were in breach of his employment contract and caused him to walk. ie constructive dismissal. The fact that the League Manager's Association are monitoring his situation looks ominous - they or their lawyers may be advising NW on what would comprise constructive dismissal so he can have the necessary evidence in place before he leaves. The criticism by the owners of one or two of NW's signings that haven't worked out sounds hollow, when you think of the good players he introduced, his man-management (particularly of Tarbs), winning the Championship etc... Sadly, I think we can forget any talk of take-over - imminently anyway - perhaps when we're heading down the pan fast by Christmas, and the Goons are scared to go outside their front doors in case they meet a disgruntled R's fan, the Mittals may have more of a receptive audience to their offers. Finally, if NW does go...well, I shall feel bloody depressed about the whole thing - yes, even more than I do now...
Mac doesn't profess to be Mystic Meg. He's a journalist and a pretty good one at that - given the objective detatchment of his articles in the context of his genuine loyalty and affection for our club. He's a cool cookie, David, not given to speculative rants. So how does he know what he knows? Essential contacts that's how. Formal and informal. He operates in an orbit closer to the sun (small 's' denotes heat source not smut) than we do... the one where material communication has to be a two-way street. From his vantage point he can see more than we can, even on a cloudy day. BUT for all the smoke and mirrors going on around THAT table of late, you'd need a thought-sensitive X-ray machine to call it right every time. So when Mac writes, I read - both the words AND the situation... Thereafter it's for me to make my mind up about what's gwanin' as the kids used to say. Mac the R over Mystic Meg any day. No Mac? No comment! That's how it is round our way.
WBA, you obviously haven't returned to the psychiatric unit then? You're an absolute nincompoop. You obviously weren't following Rangers for the 3 or so years and the 7 or 8 managers we went through when these grease ball's last had the reigns. I wonder will you come on here and spout your drivel when our Mickey Mouse team are getting hockeyed 4 and 5 nil every week this coming season?
Afternoon Swords. Yes back from the deli and a delicious frappacino at that new Italian place around the corner. Sadly chap I have been supporting the mighty Hoops since '67 (does that make me a glory hunter?) so have experienced the very few highs, the abysmal lows and the huge tracts of ineptitude somewhere in the middle. I am no apologist for the current QPR regime however I do believe in a better brighter tomorrow so fail to see why things are so bad now....do you recall being minutes from administration and relegation to the old 3rd? If so I take it you agree we are in a far better place right now. Yes sadly I will continue to support my team through thick and thin and the inevitable 5 nil twonkings at Old Trafford. You do understand that in football you cannot win them all don't you? Its the premise of the whole sport that there is the inevitable rough & smooth mate. Lastly I cannot agree with your assertion that we have a Mickey Mouse team. I do not believe the current squad to be any worse than the Blackpool squad of last season who performed admirably albeit in an ultimately futile attempt to stay up. Its still far too early in the close season to write our chances off or assume we will not sign anyone. Anyway, time for a cuppa and a garibaldi. Chin up fella and imagine how you would feel if you supported Sheffield United......... Up the 'R's!
Good come-back WBA, lets hope you're right. I do think however that Blackpool had a far better squad than we do at the moment considering they signed a load of players after winning promotion and we've signed zilch thus far. But we'll agree to disagree. Enjoy your Latte Comrade
Good to get some clarification of what, if we're all honest, we suspected was happening behind the scenes. Fortunately, it seems that the situation is being/has been ironed out and things are now moving forward just as the team is getting back together. It may all be very short-sighted by the board - who after all must have sanctioned the bonuses and should back up their commitments - and will now have made it NW's job to re-motivate the players (although it sounds as though NW will have played a big part in getting this element sorted out too - so he will have the players back playing for him if nothing else). As for the questions over Petter Vaagen Moen, Leon Clarke and Rob Hulse. PVM, I thought, showed promise in the short appearances he made. It would seem rather unfair to brand him a failure when he hasn't had the chance to shine in the team. NW always said Leon Clarke was a gamble - it didn't pay off; that's what often happens when you gamble - let it go! Rob Hulse? Come on, we all thought this sounded like a good buy on paper. Last season really wasn't good for Hulse - and he readily admits it, so he's not hiding. It will be up to him to prove he can get back to form and start showing he can do for the Rrrs what he has done in the past. At the end of the day, it can only get better for him. Thankfully it seems that things are moving forward now that all the shenanigans have been sorted. Let's see what the next few days bring!! I was hoping for a bit more excitement in the signings.. but I've downgraded my expectations significantly - so I shall be checking the news reports eagerly to see what will be happening. It is what it is.. so time to get behind NW and the team... whatever that might be!
