Agree with that Sparkey. It's been said throughout the season that we now have a team rather than a group of individuals. That team spirit seems to run from top to bottom. That comes from the management and more importantly, leadership.
At least we dont have that face in our dug out anymore. No comparison for me. Malky all the way. Question should be Bobby Gould or Jones - I go for Gould. Or Cork v Jones - Cork for me. Kenny Hibbitt v Jones - hmmmmmmmmm tough one.
People should really read before the leap in Never mind Iti - we have two articles for the price of one. It's strange when you clearly state "Read this" that people ignore you in defiance.
Taffy! I had a feeling the title would stir emotions but as you say if the link was looked at the joke was there to see. Still it has turned into a good thread within a thread.
We Swans have complained about lazy journalism this season - I remember one article in the Daily Mirror a few months ago, a sentence began 'Cardiff manager Brendan Rodgers...' - but your link trumps it ITI. As for the thread within a thread - DJ was excellent for you and should have got you promoted if only he'd had the 'rub of the green' on just one occasion - I believe MM will get you promoted, if not this season then in the very near future, but I don't feel you can possibly compare them at this point. I admired DJ for what he did and almost achieved (the play offs are an absolute lottery and he can't be blamed for just falling short - we had our fair share of good fortune last year and, had the luck gone the other way Reading could quite easily have taken our place). MM has been a breath of fresh air this year, have been very impressed with him and the spirit he has instilled in the team, he has come across as a genuine and passionate man whenever I have seen him being interviewed and I think you will do very well with him - just too early to compare him and DJ.
Cartoonhead! It just goes to show, you can't believe everything you read (or see) m8. This wasn't as you can see a real comparison article, that would be just unfair to Malky in his first season, which is still in progress. He's done us proud to get us this far and certainly surprised me. Jonesy put us on the right track and built the self belief at our club just like Martinez with you lot. Whatever happens from here on in I'm certainly happy but with a little bit of luck we can renew rivalries again next year. Though I do enjoy the unpredictability of the Championship.
Believe very little of what I read mate - and starting to distrust what I see as well! Agree with the DM and RM comparisons and also think Malky is quite similar to Brenda - they both have instilled great team spirit and built on what has gone before, and believe me when I say that I will be supporting Cardiff in the play offs (and you will get there) - love a bit of banter but got no time for the tribalism that sometimes hijacks decent threads and turns them into mudslinging matches! So good luck for the rest of the season and got my fingers crossed for a Premier League derby next season!
Its not just restricted to the newspapers. I wonder if they just reserve it for us Welsh clubs? please log in to view this image
MM all the way Great job in man management in a season where most of you would have bitten the hand off for this opportunity..... lets have the first non english game in the 'English' Premier League guys (as long as we beat you of course!) Are you happy now you have a Jackbite, Iti!
An all Wales Prem game sounds an interesting concept Swim but I fear we may have to wait a little longer before it happens so make sure you stay up next season. As for the jackbite,I'm affraid Cartoonhead got the first comment in while you were probably playing tippy tappy back in your own half.
Although DJ was a top class manager and we wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for him. However, his tactics at times were absolute balderdash and I couldn't get over some of his decisions. The over-reliance on his 4-4-bloody-2 was infuriating! Never called for his head and backed him to the hilt. However, not delivering with the players at his disposal including Bellers last season was unforgiveable really. Malky in his first season has taken us to a cup final, matched a Premier League team toe to toe and lost on a lottery of pens and is on the verge of taking us to the playoffs after a massive rebuilding job as a result of botched contract negotiations from the previous regime and crippling wages for big name stars. He has brought in players who work well as a team and leave their egos at the door. He also has an eye for developing the younger players and improving current ones, you only have to look at Mason and Whitts respectively on those points. DJ definitely didn't have a plan B.. but then, many managers don't.. Look at Rodgers with Swansea, if they're losing 2-0 away, they refuse to change their style when needed, so passing across the back 4 when 2-0 down must drive their fans nuts too.. Malky at the beginning of the season was changing tactics for each opposition it was only when we stumbled upon the 4-5-1 and battered Blackpool in terms of chances and only came away with a 1-1 draw that he decided to stick as it seemed to work for a while, he has become overreliant on it at times this season though, but his tactics seemed to morph all the time during the cup final.. I mean where was Mason suposed to be playing that day? Wing? floating? up front? that was great tactical stuff from Malky.. And of course the demeanour of DJ or Malky.. Malky wins hands down in every aspect, his approach to the fans, the press (although I don't blame DJ for his spat with Tucker the Fuc*er and El-Tel..) and his reactions pitch side. Can't beat a bit of PASSHHUNN compared to stood with your arms folded motionless on the sideline then looking back at your bench and shrugging as if to say "I haven't got a bloody clue".. Thank you DJ for what you did, will always be thankful, but Malky is building for the future and he wins my vote so far.
