This is a steal for janmaat, I don't think well see much of a difference between him and debuchy. I agree the delay is worrying after remembering the remy fiasco, but apparently this guy is keen on a move here. I'm just hoping one good striker. (Chicharito available for 10million!!!)

He was in Rio on Saturday and is expected on Tyneside tomorrow. Hard to call that much of a delay

The more I've been thinking about this deal, the more I've liked the clubs approach. It's not very often I think to commend the club for a job well done, but the way they've handled the Debuchy sale to Arsenal, has been played out perfectly. They've agreed the sale of Debuchy for a price somewhere between £10M & £12M, but insisted that he can't go til we've found a replacement. Go away and find an excellent looking 24 year old Dutch International coming back from a fairly successful World Cup, with plenty of potential and agree to buy him for half the price. Really quite brilliant. It's almost a flagrant two fingers to Arsenal.

Assuming Janmaat signs, that is.

According to Skysports, the Chronicle, BBC etc Janmaat has arrived in Newcastle and is having his medical today. He looks to be a very good replacement.

We've clearly found that line.

Amazing what NOT having JFK at the club can achieve...

So far this transfer window has had the  feeling. Most unusual!

Nice yellowing on that first picture of Janmaat and Pardew with the shirt - looks like it was taken in the 70's.

Slightly OT, but does anyone know when the new shirt is being launched? I'm fed up of seeing them holding last season's.

I am actually speechless. We have signed some real quality - not just signings for the sake of it. We now need two strikers and a CB and with those additions we can look forward to the new season even more!

Strange goings on. If we actually take that next step and strengthen, it could be an interesting season.

We've lost Cabaye, Debuchy and Remy which is obviously a big quality hole. But Janmaat, De Jong and Cabella is not a bad replacement job. The former three are better but in theory we should have more money to spend out of the funds raised. We've lost Gosling and brought in Colback which is an improvement. Perez has come in as back up. And I assume we'll replace Shola plus maybe one more striker? If Mbiwa goes we'll to replace him.

Regardless its better than what I expected to happen. I still think there should be more to come with funds available plus generating funds and more importantly wages through offloading the likes of HBA, Marv, Jonas, Obertan. Grenier replacing them four would be nice! That would leave us with Tiote, Anita, Colback, Grenier, De Jong, Sissoko, Cabella, Gouffran, Aarons which I think would be pretty strong.

I see Wickham has supposedly turned down a new offer at Sunderland and is in his last year. I still like the lad and always have. The modern target man and I think he is worth monitoring and chucking in a cheeky bid for. I knwo the mackem connection will put some off, but for me he is young, talented and English, all positive angles.

They seem to leave it till the last minute for home shirts these days... plus Ashley has **** loads of last seasons still to shift.

Reference Wickham we should just sit tight... let him run his contract down then sign him on a free.
Sunderland need to maintain their position as our new feeder club after all. <whistle>

I've just tried to give you some rep ACS but when I clicked on the icon it wouldn't let me. I got a message saying something like "You must wait until ACS gets his arse out in Fenwicks window before you can give him some rep!"

Soz ! :-)

The problem with that is it takes two to tango! It's ok having something to sell, but its worthless without a buyer. It is very unlikely that anybody will match any of their wages even if they were offered on a free. We're stuck with them till their contracts end.
