Montrose is one of those players that I have generally not commented on. I've always sort of sat on the fence in regards to the player. He adds strength to the side that at times seems to be lacking in the team, he has on occasions shown some good glimpses of what he can do and if I remember correctly the ability to score goals. His disciplinary record is poor but does not seem to get as much focus as Charlie Lee, so maybe a breakdown of his yellow cards could throw more light on why. Not a player that I ever feel disappointed when he comes on but also not one that fills me with excitement other than knowing he will do the job required of him. What does he really have to offer? hopefully under Martin Allen we will see.
I think he got 4 last season which is good, his main problem is his passing if Martin can sort that he will be a good player and the sort of player I want to see on the team sheet. On the discipline side he, Martin and Lee need to sort that. If I recall correct Martin got 3 reds 7 yellows and Montrose 2 reds 9 yellows if I am correct.
