Given his form after he joined us and his england call-up I'd wager they got all of that if not very close. We sold him for 18m rising to 24. At most that's a 6m profit. I doubt we'll have gotten anywhere near that though, given his form since he joined them. I'd put good money on one of the clauses being they qualify for europe, which aint gonna happen any time soon, so at best a 4m profit imo. Hardly staggering in today's market? Re the rest of it, yeah he did well for us, but he still ****ed us over. I can't be bothered to repeat what others have already said countless tims but, in my book, the man's a twat.
When you talk about England career, what has happened to Wes brown's ?, why is it the F A seem to lose interest in players when they come here?. What difference does it make which club you play for, he like Bent is playing in the premier league every week and doing a great job for us, and with O' Shea and Bardo plus if Bruce can get in a strong reliable left back we could well this season. Talking about Bent though he did a great job for us and that should be appreciated. And as for being near your family, what about Arca playing thousands of miles away and he is still in the north east.
Must admit I think he made the right move for his career. He went to a bigger club and increased his chances of getting England time. He also got a payrise to boot. I'd say he'd have been a prize numpty not to move. He owed Sunderland a lot so I can understand the anger, they rescued him from his Spurs nightmare and paid a pretty penny to do so. But they got more than their money back and I don't think sentiment comes into it in football anymore. I look at someone like Krul for us. In my opinion he'll be one of the worlds best keepers. Do I expect him to stay with us because his lass is from Bedlington, he has built a house and owes the club everything for the opportunity they've given him? Do I ****, he will do what's right for his career. Players come and go that's just part of football.
