You might be right mate, and if it was my career and I was in a similar position then maybe I would go for the money, I don't really know as I'll never be in that position.

What I do know is that from what I've read Bent had been sniffing around for a transfer long before us meagre supporters heard anything about it whilst families went ahead, bought merchandise, shirts with his name on the back, sung songs about him, praised him etc. Just wasn't a very classy club exit imo. It probably happens at other clubs too, but with us being Sunderland fans, it was certainly the most high profile case of a player leaving in this fashion that I can remember and it's left a sour taste.

As for the money in the game, well that's another point altogether and it's way out of control. Surely there has to be a cap put onto transfers and wages sometime soon??

Agree mate it's like every aspect of life eventually the bubble will burst unless the ropes are rained in.

I just think it was the player, as in, we saved him from spurs, he said he loved it, he scored 25 goals (havnt had that often in the past 30 years) we thought he was amazing and we would have him for years to come, then he done a runner.

But KP handed in 3 transfer requests, we refused the 1st 2, but the last one was when we went down, so we couldnt really say no then. But just wondering if we had accepeted the 1st one, would he still be loved, or loathed like Darren Bent is now.

Do I hate DB, no, I hate nobody I hope. I think that those who dont understand miss the point. Do we love what Bent did for us, yes we do. We appreciate every single goal and always will.

Do I blame him for leaving, blame no but I am sensible enough to know these things happen. I dont even blame him for the badge kissing, he may well have meant it at the time.

2 things stick in my mind and thy are the 2 things I cant forget and cant forgive.

1. His lack of effort over the last few months.

2. The big one for me, how quickly he was in that Birmingham hotel room, the haste to get away and the betrayal I felt because of it.

Dont hate him but dont like him either.

I dont hate the lad he did good for us untill there is a wage cap it will happen. good luck dazzler apart from when you play us

I've never felt more disappointed in a footballer than when he handed in a transfer request.

Also the things that came out afterwards regarding a transfer request in the close season to a Turkish Club showed the guy for what he really is - A greedy, selfish barsteward who's only concern is about money.

I will also be hurling insults at him at the villa game.

I was going to post a reply saying I don't hate him, he's just a a typical modern day footballer, but I was talking to him at the Christmas light switch on and he was going on about how happy he was at the club and the area and fans etc.

Saying this knowing he'd already tried to leave once and would do so at the next earliest opportunity!

I would say I hope he and Villa are relegated but if that did happen he would only get another big money transfer, so instead I hope he starts off crap, the Villa fans turn on him and his fragile little ego implodes again like it did at Spurs!

Hate is a very emotive word and one which I don't take lightly. for that reason I would say that I don't hate Bent for the way he acted, but I have lost all respect for him, and for that reason I will look forward to giving him some stick when he returns to the soL.

A traitor to the club and saw us only as a stepping stone - regardlesss of our passion for him.

Watson Tueart, Todd, all loved SAFC and moved on when they knew it wouldn't happen for them at our place.

Gabbiadini didn't want to go, nor did McCoist - perhaps Henderson.

Bent did. He used us he knew exactly what he was doing.

I, for one , hope he finishes in football quickly. Whatever injury it is, he deserves it.

Lets hope Flash 'Arry is the next England manager if the hurt he deserves doesn't visit him.

A calculating, lying t**t.

No offence, Darren, Am kissin your picture as I write this, ok?
