This whole debate is about hindsight. If the club could have known how things would unfold up to where we are now, then it would be a no-brainer to have given Benty his 60K or even more ! Yes, he always has a problem with strikers. One up front is o.k. providing there's a threat from elsewhere, like Ghana or Villa. But if there's not a threat from elsewhere e.g. Catts, Henderson, opposing defences are free to stick two and three men round the striker. Add to that the fact that we don't play balls to feet, and the striker is left chasing after aimless long balls with two or three defenders around him all the time. It's just horse-work for them. No striker will stick it for long.
If it was my money I would have told both Mr Bent and Mr Gyan to **** off.How long before Mr Bent's agent is in touch with Mr Gyans agent about Abu Dhabi?? $300,000 pw should tempt Mr Bent.
