Based on his recent performances and decent form the last time he made the first team the real question is what on earth have Ferdinand and successive managers been playing at in loaning out such a burgeoning young talent. And remember, one of the key goals of the the last two seasons has been to specifically focus on reestablishing a youth policy apparently. Must be me...

Maybe they felt that he hadn't developed physically enough and was considered a little lightweight to deal with the senior game.........IMO and it is only an opinion the loan moves in the last 2 seasons have helped him enormously in that he has grown in build and awareness plus experience of playing league games as oposed to U21 games that hopefully we'll benefit over the next years to come......

I think we're now beginning to see the young talent coming to maturity.......

Great news.

I also think the loans will have helped him but think he should now be given an extended run in the team. He'll get caught out from time to time and have the odd bad game but I still reckon he's as good a RB as we have at the club.

When you consider the alternative, a recently caught perch would be the best RB.

I first saw him in Bircham's under 16 team he brought over to Derry for the Foyle Cup. Think he was maybe 14 at the time but he looked like a 12 year old playing against lads 15 or 16. We couldn't believe it was Furtlong's son as he was so small in size. It is always pleasing to bring one of our own through the ranks. Good luck Darnell.
