St. Ledger is ok if you cant get better, but his wages and his (aparent) attitude when hes not picked are not worth our time. Yes we understand that you need to play regular to get into the Ireland squad (which isnt actually true seeming he was out for 7 months, yet he was still picked after only a couple of weeks coming back from injury, they must really have no other options), so maybe hes better off staying at Millwall.
Nugent is the premiership with us probably wouldnt start (did well at burnely though and england capped...) but the sort of player you would want to bring back into the side when everything is going wrong, a bit like we did with steve howard.
5 teams ... 3 places ... imo it will goto the 3 teams that win 2 of the last 3 games. W-L-D (4 points) will not be good enough for us, Forest or Bolton, Palace and Brighton may get away with it.
... in an Ireland team with very low expectations ... they have very few genuine quality prem players - Long and Walters are OK and McLean is an emerging talent ... but we need to be bringing in players that are better than that ...
Pretty solid IMO Will never be world class but a decent 3rd choice for sure. Whitbread on the other hand.....
.. then let's just hope that if we get to the Prem he never has to actually come on ... Juan Mata made him look like he had foot long studs in his boots when we played Chelsea in the cup last season ... the teams that will get relegated will all have superior defenders to Sean ... harsh but true and there is no place for sentimentality in the Prem I'm afraid ... for me, ship out for as much as you can get to a Championship side then re-invest the proceeds ...
And Tevez made Hobbs look useless and i would take him in the premier league. These are very very good players we are talking about...
... on that we'll have to differ ... the Ledge is distinctly average - Hobbs has 'potential' but will need to improve his game threefold from his time with us if he is not to get embarassed week in, week out, in the Prem ... certainly Steve Bruce's guidance will help him develop, but there is still a huge question mark there for me ...
I've not seen a small centre forward like Tevez dominate a central defender like that before. He's a very good striker and that highlights the difference between a good player for this league and a good one for the PL perfectly.
Agreed - but Aguerro and Suarez do it regularly too ... in fact you can name players in the top 15 clubs at least that can destroy average defenders ... On the prospects front - Dwight Gale at Peterborough is absolutely terrorising Championship defences now - and I'm talking about the promotion contenders here, not just the cannon fodder ...
