Further to De Jong it's also all over twitter that we're hoping to tie up a deal with Burnley for Danny Ings within the next 48 hours.

Would be two great signings, especially pleasing if we get Ings. Both players only have 12 months to run on their contracts.

If true I take it he would only be bought as a squad player rather then a starter as I don't think he is up to it (decent back up rather then shola)

Don't know why you think he's not up to it? 26 goals and championship player of the season last year. I'd be very happy if we got him.

Better than Jay Rodriguez by all accounts. Would be VERY happy with Ings, on top of De Jong. Christ, go from where the fck are the signings to who's next next within a week.

If we got ings i would think one more forward i would be really content. Plus a replacement for debuchy if needed.

Know a couple of Burnley lads and they rekon he will step up to the prem with ease.....they are gutted he is being tracked by prem clubs and is destined to leave. Not sure it will be us.

What I am saying is I would be worried of is our main option has no experience In the premiership but agree he would be a good signing but our main striker

Ings: I'm ready to shine in Premier League for Clarets

DANNY Ings is aiming to be fit and firing for Burnley when the new Premier League season kicks off.

The England Under 21 striker was dismissive of speculation linking him with a move away from Turf Moor, but insisted he is ready to start the season with the Clarets.

Ings said: “I’m in better shape going into this year so hopefully I can become even stronger ready for the start of the season, because we’re playing better players this year so I need to improve.”

Last week Ings was reported to be the subject of a “formal enquiry” from Southampton, although that was denied by the club, but Ings is determined to distance himself from speculation.

“I just stay away from all of that,” he said. “I don’t find it hard to deal with, I just ignore it.

“There’s speculation all the time, but I’m contracted to Burnley and I’m just concentrating on my football.”

And the forward, who has enlisted the help of fitness personal trainer Jamie Kennedy, who runs Burnley-based centre ‘The FX Fitness Experience’, during the summer believes he will return to Gawthorpe tomorrow ready for the top-flight.

“Personally I didn’t come back as fit as I wanted to for last pre-season but I was transformed during pre-season and by the start of the season I was in the best shape of my life,” said the 21-year-old.

“During the season you get niggles here and there, I had a couple of ankle injuries, but I was in the best shape of my life last year.”

Ings top scored with 26 goals last season as the Clarets clinched automatic promotion as runners up and he admits he is on countdown to the season opener against Chelsea.

“I’d just come back from my holiday when the fixtures came out. Those first few games are going to be crazy,” he said. “But it’s exciting and a challenge that I’m looking forward to.”

And the former Bournemouth man hopes his extra summer work pays off.

“I’ve been training at the FX with Jamie in Burnley,” said Ings of the family owned fitness firm.

“He does the same stuff as we do at Burnley – squats, split squats, lunges, running. I’ve just started Pilates as well with his mum. That’s going to be a regular thing.

“Everything is geared towards making me stronger all round, and it’s working, I’m feeling the benefits of it.

He added: “The game’s improved and it’s all about fitness.

“Every year teams are coming back fitter and fitter so you’ve got to make sure you stay in shape even when you’re off.”

If this local rag is to be believed, then Ings isn't going anywhere. No mention of us in this article at all, only Southampton

Quick everybody, shoot the messenger.

Hmm. Ings more in line with usual Twitter rumours.

So this is interesting - whilst the deal for De Jong came somewhat out of the blue, the rumours linking us with him for so long are actually true. The Ings link has no foundation and with McCormack going for £10m, I'd expect Burnley to want the same, so I think that probably is rubbish. Sega Coulibaly is actually 18 and a "hot prospect", so more like Ayoze. Cabella still appears to be an absolute certainty to join, according to the usual respectable French journo's. Which still leaves us at least one CF short, and now a RB short. Well, are we? Santon is really a RB, would he be first choice there? Which would leave Haidara as LB, with Raylor/Dummett as the second options respectively. I don't know how I feel about that, truth be told. I'd rather we spent on a CF, CB and another winger as a minimum.

Ings only has one year left on his conract, if he was committed to Burnley he'd have signed a new deal by now. McCormack signed a long term deal only last season so will demand a higher fee (even though he's older with much less potential than Ings).

Also worth noting that Burnley have today had a bid rejected for Deeney, again could all be coincidence but I'm very much hoping that we're in the chase for the lad.

That's an odd move for him surely?

Great record with developing talent and strong links with Man U who watched him closely. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of shenanigans going on behind closed doors. Gutted. I think he'll come good and was a steal at 3m. His form dipped in the second half but he is still developing physically and is just a bairn.
