Does he have a future at NUFC in your opinion?

I see a lot of comments on here, twitter, 606 and just general comments slating him or just generally putting the boy down. People say he is not good enough for the Premier League, he is a championship player etc.

I think he has a future with us in the Premier League. Its going to be hard for him to get into the team, but if he is given a run of games, I think he will blossom into a quality centre midfielder. He creates a lot of chances in games he plays in with his set pieces, he can pick a pass and if you look through a lot of the goals we have scored when he has been on the pitch, he has had a heavy hand in them.

I just think if we let him go, we would regret it and it would be like the "the one that got away".

Don't get me wrong, I do not expect him to walk into the team. He has to work and improve his fitness after being out of the team for so long. The only way I can see him getting a game this season is if we played this:

------------------------Harper

----Simpson-----Coloccini-----Williamson-----Enrique

-------------Barton------Tiote------Guthrie

-------------------Nolan------Ben Arfa

--------------------------Best

Mind you, I quite like the look of that team actually. I understand many people will think Ireland or Gosling to play in Guthries place in that team, but until I have seen them in a toon shirt, I will not expect anything of them.

I think he has more of a future than Ryan Taylor, Routledge, Smith or Perch. He's a good player, he's probably our 6th best midfielder behind Tiote, Barton, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Nolan and then Guthrie after that. I'd kep him to keep the squad depth.

If he's happy to stay, I'd keep him but he wouldnt start much, although if we get injuries or suspensions I'm never worried about him playing, very able and creative <ok>

I think he's mint personally, good as back up for Nolan. He keeps getting played out of position and he's not been able to reproduce his outstanding form of last season because of it.

He was one of our better players the year we went down and you could have argued he was our first choice central midfielder going into this season. Injuries and Hughtons departure have probably hampered him more than others I would suggest.

Couldnt agree more mate. Remember what happened last season when he was given a run of games in the middle? He outshone everyone on the pitch for 4 or 5 games in a row. He cannot be expected to pick up that form if he isn't given a proper chance.

I'm afraid I don't rate him at all, he is good enough for a promotion pushing CCC side but he has no where near the ability required in the prem. I'd be happy to see him go. I'll never forgive him for his terrible actions in the west brom game. Guthrie and Perch are our two players I really don't like, both been poor for us.

Sorry to say but I think he is far too inconsistant for the premiership, if he upped his game maybe but the reality is that there are better options with Ben Arfa, Gosling, Ireland, Nolan, Tiote, Jonas and some of the youngsters that are developing at the club.

I remember a lot of us saying he was probably our best midfielder at the start of this season, (before we'd seen Tiote and before Barton hit form of course), but I really do rate him and I think if things had been different (maybe an injury to Nolan this year) he could be a regular starter but he will need to put in some outstanding performances before we think about him starting games.

Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Jonas, Ben Arfa, Lua Lua, Vuckic, Gosling, Ireland* are the midfielders that I would rather see place, However if Vuckic & Lua Lua were to go out on loan then I think we would need to keep hold of him.

*If signed permanently.

His creativity is good but his delivery is poor, I don't know why others don't slate it, he takes corners and rarely beats the man on the front post and his free-kicks tend to hit the wall. Also his defensive ability is average and he's a little light-weight and weak to command a midfield battle. We have better and this is why I'd say his days are numbered. Very much much along the same lines of Routledge, I'd wish him well if he goes but wouldn't be bothered if he stayed as cover either.
