You're really going to lecture us on knee jerk reactions to players? Nolan is not especially good technically and sadly his passing is average. He isnt particularly creative either, the only goal I can think of off the top of my head that he has set up is Best's last v West Ham, and that was just a simple pass.

    Team I would play:

    -----------------------Harper
    Simpson------Williamson------Colo------Ferguson
    Barton-----Guthrie-----Nolan-----Ireland-----Jonas
    -----------------------Best

I would actually play Ranger in a 4-4-2 but it wont happen. Note that is a 4-5-1, not 4-4-1-1. I hate when Nolan plays off the striker, much better in the centre IMO.

  5. Ranger has been playing well mate, he just hasn't scored yet, but we should give him more time. He's been a massive threat on goal, and frightens defences.
He could have quite easily had 2 penalties so far, but didn't go down when the opposition were tugging on his shirt. You can see the potential in some of his attempts.

If he was a little bit luckier his brilliant run into the box and his attempted finish would have taken a little deflection off the keeper and gone in the bottom corner, but it was just wide from extremely tight angle.
    He's almost there.

In my opinion, he could be better than Carroll.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree. He's passing is sometimes very poor and IMO if he didn't have that finishing ability, natural leadership and experience he wouldn't be in the starting line-up. He lacks fast reactions, isn't tactical adept sometimes, his lack of pace/acceleration let him down at times and he isn't a industrious/active CM..

Example... Graeme Dorrans from West Brom. Very good technically. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDiGNT2zu_A

    Id play this:

    Best

    Ferguson-Nolan-Guthrie-Barton-Jonas

Seems the best option to me atm

That's if we have Enrique fit though, pointless rushing him back again if he isnt ready. Hope the 2 weeks rest is enough.

So Graeme Dorrans anyone? Basically a younger Kevin Nolan with technical ability.

  11. His passing is sometimes poor but so sometimes is Tiote's. And Nolan is often in the box playing little lay offs to create chances for other players, and we've been unlucky that our strikers make nothing of them.
As an example, have a look at the little ball he played for Ranger in the Arsenal game. Excellent, intelligent ball that Ranger almost got to. Nolan is a big part of our attacking threat and has good vision.

He should not be dropped until maybe next season if we find someone more effective.

I'd have him in a heartbeat, apparently out of favour at WBA as well <ok>

But I still think Nolan is ok to start for a year or two yet, we need a natural leader to come into the team as well before we let him go.

OK.. Ronald Vargas? Now that guy IS SICKKKKKKKK fam>@''''>@@@@@@

Edit: I like Nolan, just think we could do better. No offence to the lad, he's good enough for now but next season/2012 we should be looking at a replacement and I'm not sure Vuckic is the one, but you never know. Nolan's got that natural ability to pop up with vital/important goals and that's why he's one of the best in the Prem at doing that, as Smudger said his game is not about fancy tricks/flick ups or being creative/tricky it's about determination, character, attitude, spirit and pure guts. He's our main goalscoring threat and our top scorer.. which shows just how important he really is.

So was Tiote. What's your point?

  17. No mate, there's a big difference between FC Twente, a decent champions league team, then Club Brugge....

He looks great in the Belgian league, but i think he'd get swamped in this league.

He'll be our Tiote in the AM position IMO. Nippy, fast, strong for his size, can score goals, tricky/skillful and versatile.
He'll cost more than Tiote but probably be on relatively low wages compared to the likes of Nolan, Barton, Smith, Tiote(new contract), etc. I hope Carr is looking at him, could see him linking very well with the likes of Guti, Enrique, Colo and Arfa. This is an alternative to Ireland(if we don't sign him).

Edit: Example.. look at Hugo Rodallega from Wigan, came from a Mexican club and sure he isn't exactly amazing/outstanding but he's decent enough to play in the PL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Rodallega

FC Twente are Dutch. I was referring to his previous club in Belgium, who are probably worse than Club Brugge.

And playing in Belgium doesnt mean anything, you have to have started somewhere. The likes of Eden Hazard, Fellaini, Vermaelen will all have started their careers in Belgium, before moving to a big league and adapting excellently.

  20. He looks decent, but for a player from a league of that caliber, i don't want us to spend a big amount on him.
5-6 million at the most, more than that would be stupid.

Sturridge is a much better choice for me. Much better striker already.
