Would love Richie, but I think PDC could convince him to stay. Plus, as AH says, it would take a stupid offer to prize him away. I've seen rumours of frimpong. I was with his cousin on Monday and all he said was that stoke wanted him in January, so if there was any move it would be until January only.
Well, we now know why Hollands had an outing in the same match. A chance for Swindon to make a final check before signing him (and maybe for other interested clubs). It would be reasonable to think Green and Taylor were in the same shop window. Both too good not to play, and both too old to expect further improvements in their ability, unlike Evina or Smith for example, so no point in their hanging around at Charlton now they have slipped down the pecking order.
This season has been a strange one for Green, he was our man of the match in two or three games in a row, then the following game made a 'mistake' which led to a goal (he shouldn't have even needed to be covering for the full back!) and has disappeared ever since. Don't really know why Green gets so much stick on here. Wingers are always inconsistent, but Green has a cracking cross (got into double figures with assists for the last two or three seasons), can score goals, can take on the full back, is great on a counter-attack and has brilliant set-piece ability and delivery. What more can you want at lower-Championship/League One level?
That reminds me of President Obama's quote during the election campaign: "We also have fewer horses and bayonets". You are right about wingers being inconsistent. That is why they have gone the way of cavalry and bayonet charges. What manager wants to play with 10 men every other game? Or in Green's case, 5 games out of 6? Green is an "out and out" winger. How many successful teams how one of those these days, let alone two? But we are not League One and we don't want to be "low" in the Championship. We need every player in the team pulling his weight in every match. Wilson showed us the way, and even Kerkar is trying, bless 'im.
I like Danny Green but I feel that if we play four in midfield we need the energy of Pritchard out on the right. He can also tuck in and make us more solid when we don't have the ball.
