Saints are having a bit of trouble communicating with each other in defence, which is understandable as it consists of Cork, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox. They need to learn off each other pretty quick. HT. 2-2

We conceded both the goals down their left, as Cork isn't a right back, he struggled badly there and need him back in the centre. Fox didn't have a great game but his crossing is awesome.

Fox wasnt too good, out of position alot - Harding deffo should be recalled when he over his injury

Everyone always complains about Harding being out of position, Fox gets one game and now people are crying for his return. Ah, the fickle nature of football fans.

I know Dan Harding is playing very well at the mo, but surely NA must give Fox a start sometime soon? We all know how touchy these footballers can get, and id hate to see one of the best left backs in the division alienated and lose motivation because he never gets a look in over (arguably) a weaker player, especially after being a first team regular at Burnley.

I know that at the moment its a case of dont fix what isnt broken, and i know that competition is a good thing, but I think in the near future it might be time to give Fox a chance to show us what he can do.

Thoughts?

Judging on todays performance Harding needn't worry...

Yes, some of the remarks are a bit disingenuous, Foxy probably didn't know he was starting until this morning, it takes time to get to know everyone else in the team, our injury misfortunes haven't cost us yet, thank NA and NC for that, it is going to be a long, long season, stop criticising (keep discussing though, all points of view are relevant of course, but steady on with the downers) please start supporting, you know it makes sense.

It's one game and some people are already slagging fox off. If after say 20 games hes the same then you can judge him. But not after one game come on people.

My point was that he should be given his chance. And he was today. I didnt say he should be in above or below Harding. But anyway, you cant really judge him on one game against a very good Nottingham Forest team.

we can only judge people on what we've seen really

Your point was a valid one, not criticising that, just some of the responses.

WOW! Fox was poor? just goes to show how we all see the game differently,i thought he had a good game! left a bit exposed at times but generally done well.Good thing to have his 60 yard cross field balls, will be good in the future.

Positioning was poor yes, but his long range passing and crossing/set pieces were excellent. The fact the whole back 4 weren't great points to the fact they haven't played together before.

Yeah i think this was more the reason Fox may not have impressed today. If you consider it was his and Hooiveld's first start, and cork and spider were not playing their usual positions, i dont think they were ever going to have impressive games. Fox did show off some creative talent today though

Before tonight he has only played left wing for saints. So I'm not surprised he was played out of position. He is a left back but has not featured int hat position to date. We won the game and hopefully will be improving from here. "We'll look at the video on Monday".

Well isn't that strange, because I don't. Yes, of course I'll cut Fox some slack. A clean slate for his next match, as he got away with it this time [We won]. But, in a depleted defence due to injuries to Richardson [Calf strain or tear, i believe] and Harding [jarred knee in training], Saints had to juggle with the back four. It doesn't help when the new star LB defender goes to sleep several times in one match.
