Now I take my 11 year old to games, and we have a deal about the songs (being a good Father). We sin a few variants such as:
"sha la la la la la ...who the 'heck' is laughing now"
rickie Lambert ..."He gets the ball, he makes its 'his'. he wears the shirt of Matt le Tiss"
"Lee Barnard, Barnard, he's short and he's 'very' hard"
"da da da da...'pretty' useless"
etc, etc.
How the hell am I going to translate or convert that Danny Fox song.
How about:

She's Got lovely chocs
And When She eats with Ashley

I can relate to what FLT is saying regarding footie songs when you are at a game with your kids. I have the same sort of deal with mine. However my youngest is 14 now and i am pretty sure that he sings the 'dads words' under his breath now and just smiles if i am looking his way !
Swearing for the sake of it in a family environment cant be right - apart from if i hit my thumb with the hammer - as there is too much bad language in everyday use, but it is part of football chants & singing and its not so much the words i feel, but the context and how you say them.
I remember when my youngest was about 6 and we were in the family section in the Chapel and the ref was getting getting a full chorus of ' 'The referees a w----- ' , and i was gob smacked by the amount of kids of my sons age singing it out loud with their parents taking on notice. Even at a football match i cant agree with that.
I had a wi spat with joe the other day jake, I don't think he realises some saints fans take offence to too much negativity on players .

It's not North Korea, you know. Jake's suggestion that if you don't like a player you shouldn't comment on them is a ridiculous claim. As was his description of that song post as having an aggressive attitude towards Fox. I love Fox - his attitude and spirit really gees me up, and his stance on the pitch and willingness to get dirty if need be are vital attributes alongside what he brings technically. He's a trenchman, and just gets on with it. As well as being Saints' resident metrosexual, having the straightest back on the pitch, and being an undoubtable sexual deviant (whichever way he may swing - yes, I'm putting that out there). But I'm certainly not offended if someone has the opposite view. I don't believe JakeW does either.

Many years ago at a game my daughter turned to me and said what are they saying about the referee dad? Quick as a flash the bloke next to me looked at her and with a straight face and said, "They are praising the referee by saying he is the anchor man team". Oh is all she said but then she knew what was being said and was trying to set me up for a little Dad bit of embarrassment.

I have never booed a player. Ever. I love our team, but if you think it's perfect you're a fool. There's nothing wrong with trying to identify weaknesses and discussing what could be done to strengthen the team further, especially when the ultimate challenge of competing in the Premier League is just around the corner.
It's your decision to take offence anyway. I haven't tried to offend anyone.
