You're missing the point. It's nothing to do with the 2 club maximum, it's to do with how and when loans can be ended. A long term loan, which is either a full or half season loan has to start and end in a transfer window, with the exception of goalkeepers. If the clubs both agree to cancel the loan outside of a window the player returns to the parent club but is ineligible to play for their first team until the opening of the next transfer window. Dean Windass when we loaned him to Oldham (was sent back by them), Liam Cooper when we loaned him to Huddersfield (cancelled by mutual consent), and Mark Cullen when we loaned him to Bury (recalled by us) all returned early from their loan spells and were then ineligible as a result of this. An emergency loan can be ended at any time, after the first 28 days, and is a maximum of 93 days for a player at each individual club in a season. Beckford used his 93 days at Huddersfield in his initial loan with them so has to be on a long term loan. Danns was announced as a signing until the end of the season on 8th January. There is no way of splitting the 93 days limit on the emergency loan into chunks (each one has to be at least 28 days long) that allows him to be in that position without missing future games. He must therefore be on a long term loan as well. Like I say, if you're aware of a loophole in the rules then I'll be interested to see it.
From the F.A. Rules: 53.2.1 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.2 below). 53.2.2 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club in any remaining League Matches in that Season notwithstanding the fact that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window. As Ricardo said, Beckford was initially send to Huddersfield on an 93 day emergency loan, we could have recalled him at any time (after the passing of 28 days) during this, but this loan was turned into a half season loan in Jan. He is now ineligible to play for us again this season, even after he returns to us if we're in the play-offs and Huddersfield's season is over. Danns was a season-long loan in the first place, so the only time we could have activated a recall clause would have been in Jan, which we didn't do. He is also ineligible for the play-offs. So rumours of either of these two returning to play for us this season are invalid.
****ing hell, pinning your hopes on a Neil Danns based revival sounds pretty desperate to me, but good luck anyway
Some people are short sighted and find it difficult to see past the last few games. Hence our board is swarming with Hull fans again after weeks of absence.
