I hadn't thought of that, he will now miss the game against us, if he's sat in the directors box we'll know it's a done deal. <laugh>

Oh yeah, I suppose it does, I didn't think of it like that. I just thought he was a legend for scoring and hurting a Leeds player but i'm pretty pissed off about that because I wanted to see what we were about to sign. Ah well, at least there best player is suspended.

At least he does tackle though. After seeing the highlights is it just me or did Gerrard look all at sea? Is his mind elsewhere, maybe he's decided to stay at Cardiff or got an offer from the Prem...

I get the impression we've all but given up on Gerrard and we've turned our attention to Ayala.

Did you go to the Derby away game?

I am almost certain Daniel Ayala will be a Tiger in the very near future.

AP's comments ahead of the Boro game would suggest he thinks it's just about a done deal.

    Indeed.

Plus after the Derby game he came back out onto the pitch to embrace NP and he applauded the City fans.

Can't have gone down well with the Derby fans (those that were left!!) but it really surprised me at the time and made me think he would be returning in one form or another.

Must say, though, without Gerrard I really cannot see any leaders on the pitch. Don't think Danns is that sort.

Ayala for me is the better defender, he has more pace so should compliment Hobbs.

He should be complimenting Chester, not Hobbs!!!!

I'd rather not have Gerrard if he isn't enthusiastic about being here. He's been one of our top players all season but he's been letting it slip since the defeat to Millwall.

You look at Stewart, Evans, Chester, Rosenior, they all seem pretty ecstatic to be Tigers. Then you've got Ayala who, well, we all saw him at Derby. Then you've got Hobbs & Fryatt who obviously have a past relationship with NP.

Then you get Gerrard, who omits more of a 'Meh' attitude to being here.

    I don't think that's entirely fair.

Gerrard is the only one of our loanees this season who could make a fortune at their parent Club next season. It's a difficult situation for him.

Put it this way, I would rather have an honest pro who looks after himself and his own first, than one of these soft badge-kissers who **** off at the first opportunity.

As for form, I don't think Gerrard has been anywhere near as good as he was since Chester was moved away from his side. Chester is so good at reading situations and not charging in, that Gerrard always felt free to make challenges knowing Chester would cover. If you watch the QPR goal from yesterday, Gerrard looked in two minds when he went across to tacle Routledge and he missed his tackle.

For me Gerrard is a really good defender but recently his tried and tested partnership has been broken up and his mind is probably (and undersdtandably) wandering as to what is best to do in the close season.

couldn't agree more with strovolos to be honest, well said, sir.

with regards gerrard, i just think he has consistently come across as a man unsure of his future. he doesn't want to burn his bridges with cardiff as he clearly still has a contract there (and an even nicer one if they go up), yet he probably thinks there is a bit of a chance of staying here so isn't really saying either way. i don't think you could question his commitment either on or off the pitch.
