Agree, they could not sell Danns in January, it would have given out the wrong signal to their fans. We where in the same position 12 months earlier with Steve Hunt, we held on to him because to sell would have given the impression that we had accepted relegation. As it was we were relegated and he went to Wolves at a cheaper price, Palace survived and Danns has now left for nothing.
'Champions League football' True, he could go there and maybe play in what is likely to be a maximum of six Champions League games, but have to put up with **** football in a league and two cups. But why? Overall, I see no difference between Rangers and a Championship club. I don't necessarily mean us, but why not West Ham, Birmingham or Leicester, etc?
Celtic star Anthony Stokes has urged Neil Danns to choose Parkhead over Ibrox if he has the pick of Old Firm clubs.
I think it's all very well having a wage structure but within that structure there should be enough to attract good players to vital positions.
I know everyone's got excited and decided Neil Danns is the second coming of Zico or something but he really isn't and he's definitely not worth shattering our wage structure for. The fact is we would have been able to better his Palace wages and pay a decent signing on fee to attract him. When Celtic and Rangers expressed interest, his earning power suddenly increased and put him out of our league. He isn't worth breaking the bank for, there are other fish in the sea.
so he didnt mention Hull City then? to be honest i think that this, and other transfers are indicative of the standard of scottish football. commons leaves derby for a 'top' scottish club. now danns!!!!
