It was indeed. Proper footy down there, not the overhyped media train that the PL is now. Better atmosphere at home games even with 10k less, less day trippers / neutrals. You don't know loyalty until you've seen your managerless team lose 2-0 at home to Rochdale in a league game Was fun being one of the big boys too eh? The refs though....
Spurs are no different from any other club mate. If a bigger club wants one of your players and the player wants the move, then it's just a matter of money.
If the player is set on going, I agree. It's what I've been saying all along. If it's a player MP, or the club wants to keep, Levy will fight to keep him - as he did years ago with Modric. But if they're absolutely set on going, then yes, he'll screw the buyer to the floor. But he doesn't willingly sell our top players, as has been suggested.
I don't know how hard Southampton have fought to keep players. I only know we have never willingly sold any of ours. We fought hard to keep them.
Same as any club really mate. Spurs are no different. I think you're going to see that resolve tested over the next few seasons too, as Levy will be under pressure to balance the books to pay for the stadium and placate players wage demands, as they look around and see their peers earning 2x - 3x what they are on.
Getting back to the topic, Levy states the transfer market has become unsustainable which is a cop out and he has made himself look an utter tight fisted prat over those comments. Granted the last two years the prices have been ridiculous but Spurs record signing has been Sissoko at around £30 million. Spurs have always shied away spending money so his statement at this time is puzzling to say the least. What everybody ascertains from the speech from his wallet is "we have always resisted paying anything over £20 million for anybody" (sissoko apart). This is why Spurs have never fulfilled their promise and have been held back in the name of profit. You get what you pay for, nothing less and for Levy that equates to **** all trophies worth shouting about for 16 years under his mean grip.
It's not Levy calling the shots when it comes to spending, it's his Overlord Lewis who has made Levy very rich.
when you look at how many of Spurs big signings have completely flopped, you can understand why he's reluctant to spend, especially when he bought the wrong Moussa Dembele
I used to love the 2nd division days. Some great days out. Wouldn't bother me if we went back to it tbh.
You contradict yourself. First you say that Levy shys away from spending money, then prattle on about the £30 mill spent on Sissoko. So, which is it.?.. Not to mention the estimated £750 mill on a new stadium.
Had this exact discussion on our board last week. I genuinely wouldn't care if we went down this season and would almost welcome it even. The general matchday experience is so ****ing ****e and sterile now it does my head in. Also the reason I don't plan on doing many home games this season but more away
Still a contradiction, you bigoted old git.. You expose your bordering on psychopathic, irrational hatred of Spurs with just about every post.
How is it a contradiction, basically him and Joe only care about making a profit. They shouldn't be allowed to be anywhere near a football club. Thats why you've been **** for 16 years since those two Yids bought Sugar out. For 56 years you've been an absolute joke and now you've had two decent seasons the club is crying out for two or three top class players to move up to the big table but those two ****s are mugging you off and your are too stupid or too pissed to worry about it.
