I'll be dead, dead chuffed if this goes through. He seems a perfect type of player for us. Raised on Spanish football so he should be relatively comfortable on the ball, but at the same time he knows how to defend, and he's a big lump with it. For me, I was disappointed we weren't in for Jack Hobbs earlier in the summer (but we've done alright by Caulker, so that disappointment faded rapidly) but for me Ayala has the potential to be in a different class to Hobbs.

Would be a great buy if we get him and shows that we are planning for the long term future of the club

Good signing if this happens. The squad is showing signs of a bit of strength in depth that can only be good for the season. Go Buck, lets get him.

I'd imagine it'll be wrapped up fairly quickly if Hull were already involved...

Fantastic move for us. A good player who has something to prove.

Well Hull have had their bid accepted already (750k by most reports) and we're just starting to negotiate with Liverpool. If Ayala agrees personal terms with them and goes for a medical then I can't see him coming down here - especially with his history of playing for them before.

The lure of the Premiership is a strong one but so is regular first-team football, and with Ash and Caulker in place it's not easy to see him displacing one of those. Time will tell of course but I think he'd be a great signing, just not sure we're actually going to be able to land him when another deal is underway.
