Whilst I agree with this point how come so many said the opposite about Gaston the season before last? The comments there were that the team had to adapt to him and that he saw things they didn't. TBH I think they will both probably be gone this window because I can't see Gaston stepping up and obviously Osvaldo is not likely to be accepted back into the fold lightly.

With Gaston we have the hope that he will embrace the English style of football, look for the simple pass and release the ball quickly. With Danni that will not happen, he wants to be the main dude. I hope that RK can eek that little extra from Gaston and also show the guy how to shoot

Both very talented players; shame we may not see the best of either.

Is true, but you play with your head as well and his is ****ed up. Gaston seems a good honest pro, maybe abit stroppy but thats what you get with latinos

Osvaldo failed at Juventus last season, his whole career has spiralled downwards. Hence we have been lumbered with a lame duck; we will be lucky to get half of the £15M we paid for him. Is a financial liability as well as a problem player off and on the field. All l want to read about him is that he has gone.

To be honest if you look at history and back on some world class players what makes them that good is some sort of flaw they have, aka flawed genius syndrome! Not saying Dani boy is up there but if you look at a Suarez, Best, Maradona, Gascoigne they all had/have major flaws but without that spark they wouldn't be the class of player they are today, they need that buzz and excitement. Same goes with Dani, he's not crap he clearly has talent. I think he would be a real asset and could be like a new signing if Koeman could sort him out, it would definitely add to our front line and I would be In favour of it. If it was between him and Fonte I would personally sell Fonte to Cardiff and get Caulker in return. I know Dani will probably end up fisting Caulker in training but that's just the mentality of a flawed genius...

There is some value in what you say there, but:

    1. Massive, massive gamble

    2. Fran is going to hunt you down and rip out your heart

Don't need to sell Fonte. He's certainly man enough to move past it.

Still if we could make Fonte part of the Caulker deal I would be in favour of that. Of course only if we keep Lovren.

What sort of an example would that set though? Shipping out the player who was assaulted to make room for the player that assaulted him? Not in a million years. Do you think that Fonte is the only one who would have a problem with Osvaldo? Imagine the uproar in the team if they were told that Jose was being sold on and Osvaldo was coming back lol

    Fonte is going nowhere.

If I could only keep one of Dani and Jose it's Jose no question. Not only is he (presumably) the innocent one in the situation but he's just had two excellent Premier League seasons with us and he should continue to start next season, possibly as captain. Dani is talented and if he can mend the bridges and be accepted back into the team I'll be delighted, but is he more valuable to us than Fonte? Not a chance.

Osvaldo had talent but he showed little with us last season and even in a dominant Juve team he failed to reignite his career.

Of course I don't like the message but from a squad perspective a player in his 30's with one year left of his contract if I would use him to get an upgraded CB in the form Caulker then I would seriously consider it. I love Fonte to bits and I will always remember the last minute goal against Brighton as one of my favourite Fonte moments but if if a deal involving Caulker was on the cards then I would take advantage of that.

Osvaldo getting back into the squad isn't nearly as big a deal as you're making it into.

But shipping off Fonte to make way for him is a big deal, which was my point if you read it again.

I don't see losing Fonte as a massive deal. As a club moving forwards, and hopefully upwards, the team dynamic is exactly that: dynamic. We shouldn't get too hung up about favourite players. They move on, we hope replaced with better.

Actually we do need to strengthen at the back and he should now be at the very least challenged (at the very least be a back up).

If he and Osvaldo could kiss and make up, then I'd be even happier, although cannot see it happening...so we will end up with another striker instead.

The best teams have a spine of players who have been there a good while. They bring a lot to the training ground and the dressing room.

Most of our spine has now unfortunatley been dislocated and left in a paraplegic state. Whilst sentiment is good we all have to focus on the evolution of a new squad to compete this season.
