Love this guy but as soon as we got Rodgers I thought he'd have problems. For all his heart & stamina ;(which would have suited) his first touch has always been shocking which wouldn't in a swift pass & move game. Fee irrelevant, more important is the removal of a high salary if the player would have continued to be underused. Glad we mixed hard business head & respect for a loyal servant & let him go somewhere he'll get first 11 football. Fernebache are getting a great addition to their team.
He won't be remembered as a Liverpool great. But for certain he will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, charitable and humble Liverpool servant for years to come. He's one of those players who will forever be connected with Liverpool, and I'm honoured that such a man is a representative of Liverpool FC.
@Dirk_18_Kuyt: It was a privilege to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world!! After 6 years I'm really looking forward to join Fenerbahce. @Dirk_18_Kuyt: I'd like to thank everyone I've worked with at LFC and specially my teammates. Also I'd like to thank the supporters for there great support.
terrible move for him IMO..... big big step down and there's no way you can see it as much else when you go to trukey... it goes to show how much of a dmenad for him there was in better leagues eh? Trust me this is good for LFC as while we lose an option now we already lost the dirk of old and having him age more elsewhere is only good for us. If i hear carrgaher is made a coach next i'd be happier.
All of Dirk's 50 league goals are in this Gerrard tribute. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/stevie-pays-dirk-tribute
Shanks's type of player. I never got this skill complaint. I've never seen a striker keep his shots down so consistently. You rarely saw him sky it. He may not have had the best of first touches but how important is that when he outscored Ronaldo's first three seasons from the wing? You can't fill a team with stars, as England managers have never learned, you need your workhorses, too. Nobody defended from the front better than Dirk. Probably best to go with great memories rather than stay benched and struggle without regular games, as he seemed to in his last season. I hope he gets to return as Riise did to take his respect. please log in to view this image
Source: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/lfc-will-always-be-in-my-heart-1 Seems to have enjoyed his time at Liverpool massively. Some kind words about the club and as the comments on here have already shown, we all wish him well in Turkey. You never know, we could meet Fenerbahce in a few years and Dirk could come back to Anfield for a game!
Farewell to the lad. Don't think it has anything to do with not fitting into Rodgers' plans, we saw this coming months ago. Hope he comes back to say goodbye.
.Dirk Kuyt is leaving Liverpool for Fenerbahce Source:http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/03062012/58/premier-league-kuyt-leaves-liverpool-turkey.html
A good servant to the club and a good bloke. I think he and his wife run their own charity back in Holland. Never a silky, stylish player but always gave 100% and had a knack of being in the right place to get a tap in and always followed up into the box when another player had a shot saved, something Carroll needs to learn to do.
Think him leavin may have been money motivated I think he was on about £60k a week with 1 yr left, suspect he may be on similar money at Fenehbahce but on a 3 yr deal,at 31 hes gotta look after is family, and this is probably his last good contract Dirks last goal was v QPR,Was thinkin Dirks last goal may have been v Cardiff, that would have been nice
He always scored big goals in big games. He won't fit in with BR's style of play and had a below average season. Some great memories and I wish him the best of luck.
Good Luck to Dirk. He always put full effort into his games, gave everything for the team, stepped up on the big occasions and clearly loves and has enjoyed playing for us. At this stage in his career he deserves to be playing on a regular basis and unfortunately he cant do that at Liverpool.
First touch wasn't the best, but he was an intelligent player and made things happen because he always wanted to be involved. We shunted him out to the wing when Torres came in and he gave his all even though he wasn't really suited to the role. I'm really sorry to see him go because he embodies the spirit of the club to my mind. However I think he's still got something to give and I'd hate to see him sitting on the bench most of the time- it's just not natural for him, so if he goes somewhere where he'll get more time on the pitch then it's best for him. Good luck Dirk, and thanks.
