Exactly what I was thinking. He played approx 15 mins against Posh in the cup and that has been it as far as I know!!!!

Honestly, I think Ryan Bennett will challenge Turner for a place in the starting 11 next year. Put in some real mature performances at the end of last season and carries a hug threat on set pieces.

    From the Liverpool Echo, 2008:

"DANI PACHECO may not have featured on the scoresheet during LiverpoolReserves’ 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in midweek. But during a dazzling 20 minute cameo the Spanish teenager underlined why he is so highly thought of by everyone at Anfield. Pacheco came off the bench with the Reds second string already two goals up and wasted no time in showing the skills which made him one of the hottest prospects in European football when he was prised away from Barcelona by Liverpool chief scout Eduardo Macia last summer.
Though short in stature, the 17-year-old talent is blessed with the kind of natural talent that gets fans on their feet, as illustrated by his superb defence splitting through ball to set up Liverpool’s third and final goal against Villa.
Pacheco still has a long way to go before he can even think of challenging for a place in the first team. But the 7,000 fans who witnessed his cameo on Wednesday night might have been given an exciting glimpse of Liverpool’s future."

Won the Golden Boot in the 2010 European Under-19 Championship. Such promise. Still only 22 but it doesn't look as if the promise is going to be fulfilled. Rather sad really. <ok>

He should really be breaking through by 22, I'd like him here, but only as a free transfer.

I like Pacheco kind of a creative forward, but not in the same vein as Wessi. He was handy attacking from the wing position too but had a trick in him as well.

I think some people are being a bit snobby to be honest.

I don't know if that's fair. I think we're all agreed that he'd be a decent squad player, but he's not a player who'd necessarily be pushing for a starting berth each week. And we're all agreed that £4m is an awful lot for a squad player, with no real evidence he can cut it at this level. Were he available on a free, as other reports have suggested, I think we'd all be happy to have him. I think we've only got room in the squad for him or Butterfield though, not necessarily both.

The CAM position is one that definitely required some thought this summer, and beyond. When on form Wes has shown that he's more than capable at this level, but I've felt we're a seriously weaker proposition when he's not on song. This season, we've really only had Howson who can play a similar role, but he doesn't quite have the flair of Wessi. Going forwards, I don't think we can rely on Wes to play every week, so having a young understudy (Butterfield or Pacheco, I haven't seen anyone in our academy likely to challenge in this position) and potentially a more "proven" player as competition makes sense to me.
