What a massive event is the 14:10 at Hexam. 4 miles, Soft to Heavy in patches and a stiff climb home. These sort of races really mess with the animals. Despite the fact that the majority of the runners have spent most of their time on their feet, there is a fair chance that half the field won't complete the course. And those that do will probably be strung out like Brown's cows. Course specialist Cilliseal deserves to start favourite, but I thought that Overyou might have a real shot at this. He led one of these 4 milers here earlier in the year before coming a cropper two out.
Superb ride by Graham Lee on Storm runner at Lingfield. I must say i did not think he was going to be as good as he has proved at the beginning of the season but he is really impressing me now. These all weather tracks can often be more revealing of a Jockeys ability than the turf tracks and Graham Lee has caught my eye often when riding them lately.
Looked good there Twigline... 934 days away from the track hasn't harmed him one bit going off that performance...
Have Kempton changed the layout of their track? i have noticed the first two races came around a bend at the 2 f pole rather than approached it from the usual straight with the cut away. I may be going mad but thought they always came down the straight whatever the distance. The horse who finished third in the second race would definately have won had it come down the straight with the cut away.
5/4 Turban massive price Shrapnel was a jailcase, beat Rory OMoore last time, been away all day so couldnt post earlier, but he was my only bet today, 7/2 with Paddys, got 3/1.
Don't think they've changed anything Bluesky9, 5f and 1m2f on the inner track, the rest on the outer track: http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/c...lected_tab=COURSE_MAP#selected_tab=COURSE_MAP - click 'All Weather'.
Am I crazy in thinking 6.30 Kempton St Moritz 40/1 looks insanely overpriced?! Yes he hasn't been at his best this year but his recent win in a Conditions race LTO should have boosted his confidence. He ran well enough at the start of the year and was 107 rated at his peak when getting beaten half a length in a Group 3 by subsequent Group 2 winner Fanunalter in June last year. I think its very interesting that he returns to the polytrack for the first time since his first 2 career starts (won both) and he clearly likes the surface. Dandy Nicholls is flying at the moment with 4 winners from his last 12 runners and this represents both his and his son Adrian Nicholls's only action of the night. In a wide open race, I think St Moritz looks a very price if bouncing back to his best and he definitely has the potential to spring a surpise if putting his best foot forward and I'm backing him to small stakes.
