No, that would have been too long a story to tell! As an afterthought, guess that layer at 999/1 will need a good doctor too?
Swanny: I'd never knock the great man's contribution to racing (and I witnessed some of it at first hand, and from close quarters) but Phil Bull - like a lot of his fellow-Yorkshiremen - had a pretty fair capacity for self-deception. He LOVED be seen with the great and good, and there was even a story circulating in the mid-1960s that he dropped a hint to Princess Margaret that he wouldn't refuse an invitation to dinner at Buck House (that didn't happen, apparently!). Moral: beware of people who proclaim their ordinariness too loudly. (Unless it's Nass, who genuinely is very ordinary).
Hello Rainer! Yes, that is true about him (and a lot of other people too who pretend to be ordinary, but really aren't) but he probably didn't like the full Monty as he dispensed with his teeth as a young man I believe, and refused to mess around with false ones. So, I would imagine it was the cocktails circuit he probably enjoyed most? God, sorry, this should not be on the hossracing daily thread. Ron or Oddy will delete it and me too!
I wouldn't worry about that, Swanny. Ron and Oddy know perfectly well that when either you or I are posting, the viewing (and hence the cookie-income) figures double. When we're on together, they go through the roof.
Back in the real world.... unless I missed it, nobody has congratulated Tamerlo on his long-priced, elegantly-reasoned, close-run and maybe slightly unlucky second in that insoluble Doncaster sprint. Well done, Tam (biggish rule 4, presumably ?).
Just watched that 2.10 Uttoxeter - Simon Holt was having kittens up the home straight Incidentally, in the same race we had another one of Mystic Meg's purchases and, I'm afraid to say, Astrogold looks just as much a ropey old dog as Astroangel, Astrobella, Astrobrava, Astrodiva, Astrodonna, Astroleo, Astrolibra, Astrolove, Astromancer, Astromoon and Astronova. My god she has bought some rubbish - youd've thought she'd have seen that coming ...........................
I'll chance the fav from trap 5 Pay Freeze in the big race. I'll know my fate at the first bend. The only time he's lost at this track was from trap 5 so fingers very crossed.
Didn't see the race but it seems old boy Chaninbar was not keen on racing again yesterday. Surely time must have come to retire him. He's won 60k in prize money so doesn't owe anybody anything.
