No bet today for me. Was tempted to back Highdownhill there after tipping him up at 9/1 LTO but unfortunatly desisted. I rarely follow horses I have previously backed until they are beaten.Try to assess them on merit on each occasion Anyone always back the same horse?
I tend to get emotionally attached to horses that have won me money, and have to make a conscious effort to assess those animals impartially. But as a rule of thumb, I'll often follow handicappers until they get beat, if they look like they're improving. The theory is that the official handicapper is seldom as hard on winners as their trainers will have you believe.
La Estrella - 9yo, run 53 times now over a 6 1/2 years, who principally only runs on the AW... Not exactly turned out a lot for a horse with such a good record... Flat Turf...... 18..... 1..... 0..... 0..... £6,477 Jumps......... 7..... 1..... 0..... 0..... £2,602 All Weather.. 27.... 18.... 2.... 2..... £43,368 Is he one that takes a bit to get ready or is this a normal rate for a horse on the AW... I dont follow the AW racing at all so please excuse my ignorance if it is a normal run rate...
A very profitable lunch-time for me as both Nicholls horses go in ! Hope several of you were on them ,whilst the All Weather advised horse finished 2nd at 10/1 also so maybe some of you were on him too ! Surely Nicholls won't win the first five races on the card there...though no further single bets for me.
although I still expect Cue Card to win the Haldon Gold Cup the way Ruby Walsh is riding today he is surely not without a chance on Edgardo Sol, who is an improving type anyway
Steveo..that is a hard race to call as any of the top 3 could win it...the owner of Edgardo Sol hasn't enlightened me any further as yet though he will certainly be up for it today...then again so will Menorah and Cue Card....it should be a cracker !
Cue card and edgardo sol racing off the same weight? Cue card could win this backwards and blindfolded no matter how well ruby is riding. Menorah will be a danger if jumping is up to scratch but personally think 10/11 is a quite remarkable price for a horse that in my opinion could quite easily be a 1/3 shot
