Evening All,

Not a bad days racing with Fontwell, Sedgefield, Southwell & Thurles.

Going to have a little play tomorrow so my selections are;

Fontwell 14:10- Medinas

Medinas ran out an impressive winner over 2m4f at Hereford last month, beating previous winner Twirling Magnet by 10 lengths. And is likely to be suited by this trip and can follow up his Hereford success.

Fontwell 14:40- Habbie Simpson

Although hasnt been on the track since December, he has 12lbs on the next best Mush Muir. Although he failed to complete in his first two outings over fences but was a very unlucky when runner-up at Doncaster last time, where a mistake two out probably cost him victory, he goes well fresh and expect him to complete a quick double for the King/Choccy pair.


Sedgefield 16:00- Ebanour

EBANOUR and Sublime Talent clashed recently in a series qualifier with the former coming out on top by a length, albeit in receipt of 6lb from the last-named. Now handicapping, the selection is 1lb worse off at the revised weights but is taken to confirm the placings under Jason Maguire as the runner-up now reaches for first-time cheekpieces in a bid to reverse the form.

Sedgefield 16:30- Rey Nacarado (NAP)

Trainer is in form which is a huge positive to start off with, he would have been my pick for the Handicap chase at newbury a couple of weeks ago where stable mate Ikorodu Road won. He is easily excused on his latest pulled up run and, he is progressing nicely over fences previously, still on a good mark and with trip/ground expected to be fine, looks the most solid option.

I think Berties Dream 2/1 tomorrow in the 5.45 Thurles looks an unbelievable price. Although a tiny bit disappointing in a Grade 2 over fences, I think he would have gone pretty close to winning had he not pecked on landing over the last. Tomorrow he's back over the smaller obstacles and was a winner of the Albert Bartlett as a Novice back in 2010. In the World Hurdle in 2011 he was beaten only 8L by Big Bucks, with Berties doing his best work at the finish. By far the best of these in my eyes, he's rated the highest of these and I'll be very, very surprised if he gets beaten. Big bet for me.
 
Morning one morning all,

As many of you know, and some of you may need to know, I am a big fan of punting angles on the sand at Southwell but today I have found it difficult with a capital D (along with capitals IFFICULT). I came close to suggesting one in the long distance race on the card, but I fear that the horse still needs to drop a little more in the weights.

Shifting Gold is the horse, and its a Southwell course and distance winner who comes from a yard who are getting winners again in the early season. Nepotism rides, which will be a positive for one of the regular no banner wavers and the handicapper is relenting. Its form looks poor, because it is, but the horse is capable in this sphere and if the money comes it could be one to be with.

Against it we have a mixture of old rogues and inconsistent sorts, including one that I put up last time in Carnac, who looks to have a fair chance of following up here. He isn't consistent though, and that race the other day was weak, infact as weak as Noora Looby (had to mention that name) in a finish.

In the end I am waving the no bet banner, along with the bored out of my skull flag and the I can't be rrrsed scarf.

I will be back with an aftertimed winner later, it seems the way to go.

Not sure I'll be backing anything today..haven't had a decent perusal as yet.

Nass,re after timing winners,you have to be impressed with the big priced one yesterday and I think you'll struggle to match that tbh.

Anyone can AT an even money favourite but the long shots are much more elusive.

Credit where it is due.

Ste I like Daffern Seal who ran well at Cheltenham.Would have gone close but some slopping jumping toward the end of the contest.Very lightly raced and open to improvement.Other positives are obviously his trainer,DK Weld and his ability to go on fast ground which could be the prevailing surface if the dry spell continues.I expect him to reverse Cheltenham form with the likely favourite Four Commanders.DF is currently 20/1.

Also quite like On The Fringe off a featherweight.Must be a doubt as to whether he lines up and he won't run if the ground is quick.I've always thought he could be better than a hunter chaser.He is also 20/1 but I won't back anything until the NRNB caveat is in place.

hi lads,

i stuggle to get on at work but i do lurk as a guest from time to time. ive had a speculative but small win punt on wynchwoods mist in the 340 at font. 4 runs to date, hacked up in decentish company in her first, was not to blame when pulling up in her second. had a long break before running in the bumpers for jumpers on the AW and then running in a C1nhf race recently. she should come on for those 2 runs i hope and this is a lot easier than her latest race. whether she's up to winning is a different matter but at 16/1 i'm involved for small stakes.
 
2.10 Fontwell: Little Chip (0.5 pts e.w) 20/1 This is a horse who will improve over hurdles and the fact that this is only his 2nd hurdles start is factored into his price. His bumper form tells you he will relish a trip like this, and though he was comfortably beaten on debut, that was a race with horses of good ability (Destroyer Deployed 2nd in Champ Bumper, a nice McCain horse called Dananceys Hill), and therefore he was up against animals who I say belong in around the 130 mark.

The Longsdon yard are very adept and he switches to novice company today and I expect him to have improved for the run. He has a fair bit to find, but I like his chances of being in the first 3 and would rather take an each way 20/1 on him than make a decision between the two more exposed market principles.


2.20 Southwell: DARTRIX 13/2 (1pt e.w) Looks an interesting newcomer for the Dods yard who made a good start this time last season and boast a 27% strike rate in AW maidens. The favourite of Kevin Ryans yard sets a good standard for a maiden at Southwell but he will stay a mile before the season is out so I wonder if the trip might inconvenience him. Either way, I like the chances of Dartrix being in the first two.


2.30 Sedgefield: Miss Hippy 2pts win 7/2 Some very useful form over timber last season and the switch to Brian Ellison looks an interesting one. Chased home KAFFE in a maiden (now rated 132), chased home TANTE SISSI (so on to be rated around 130 after his win last week) and shaped like todays step up in trip would suit when a very respectable 3th behind Swincombe Flame. Like this ones chances if ready to go on return.

(Gross outsider and way out of the handicap, but with rider able to take full claim, has a squeak to make the podium).
