I would like to point out that when my wife goes racing she avoids backing Dickie because in her words "he always falls off". A stopped watch tells the right time twice a day.
Absolutely agree. Though it seems funny to say i thought he rode both horses like he was afraid of making a mistake. I was watching the coverage on ATR and it was commented that Phillip Hobbs looked nervous too. It seems strange for two such experienced campaigners but it almost seems like the pressure told?! I just thought he rode him tentatively. That's probably the best word. On a positive note i think i'd rather by in the Hobbs/Johnson position (two horse down who looked like winning) than the Nicholls/Walsh position (easily beaten and easily beaten).
Anyone see the article regarding Born To Sea on SPortinglife. They are saying that the horse has torn a muscle coming out the stalls, now if this is the case then surely huge credit has to be given to the horse for running so well and this point may devalue nephrites impressive looking win. One question though, how do they know he pulled the muscle leaving the stalls
I did see that Hardy. I thought he looked uncomfortable coming down the straight when i watched it, like he was climbing, which is exactly as John Oxx described it. Very hard to tell how much to make of it but at least gives a possible excuse. The fact that Oxx remains intent on the 2000 Guineas possibly tells you all you nee to know and that is that he's a very good horse. I am sure he wouldn't be taking that route with any old nag.
Hardy, he was lame after the race and on taking him home he was still stiff so they checked him out. John Oxx speculated in the Racing Post that he thought the horse jumped out of the stalls a bit awkwardly and may have wrenched something then. He said he wasn't happy with his action as they turned into the straight, or in the last 2 furlongs, so suspects he did the damage early on. On another note, lovely to see Kauto Star at Exeter enjoying a racecourse gallop with Big Bucks and Mon Parrain.
12/1 for Born To Sea for the guineas is an appealing price to me even at this stage. Simply because we know the race is his target, he is high class as a 2yr old, his family has proven that they train on and Oxx is not exactly renowned for overfacing his horses. 12/1 about the horse getting there some may say, which is true i suppose, but i think on the day if he gets there fine he will be half the odds given Sea The Stars win will be fresh in the bookies memory. mmmm do i take the plunge or not, might wait and invest some parts of winnings from over the NH season. Thats if i get any winnings not had a bet at this early stage of the NH so i might have a shocker over the winter months and have nothing to invest,
Very impressed with Captain Chris. He has a fantastic presence and didn't look fully wound up today. I love the way he rallies and sticks to his task. I don't know why he jumped so high at the last, but I'm convinced he'd have won with a good jump. The problem now will be over what distance do you campaign him? His style of running suggests any distance from 2-3 miles. He should go right to the top and stay there.
Just watched the racing from today- As said before Ghizao was hugely disppointing- I think Nicholls may have some work to do on his horses! thought merdemit would have wanted further! He is a horse I rate and backed him everytime he race last year! Glad to see both horses are ok- did anyone have shammick boy! Huge upset that was- but overall a good midweek card!
Evening all Just seen replays some good racing today. Captain Chris's stamina was going to win him the Haldon, must say though that was impressive from Medermit he looked beat 2 out but kept on finding and he wants further himself. I wouldn't be that disappointed if I was a GHIZAO fan he was well beaten first time out last season by Kilmurry who he went on to beat comfortbaly after that. ROCKY CREEK one to follow
RV - good result for you last night!! Thought we were poor but to get a result like that at the Brit shows how far your team have come. Congrats and good luck for the rest of the season
Very gracious in defeat Sizing . mate. Great result, I agree Stoke didn't play anywhere near what they are capable of. Gave the ball away easily at times but still not easy to beat at home. Two very soft pens though , consistency from the ref lol. Good luck to Stoke also
You've played very well this season dude, and I hope that last night was just a blip on our home form. As long as we finish in the top ten then I will be content if not pleased. Good tipping over the weekend as well mate! I haven't really dabbled yet with it being early in the season and school year etc but looking forward to getting my teeth back into it in the near future.
we are newcastle united---they call us the team of the land--and heres to bobby moncur, the fairs cup in his hand
