  1. Selections for today.

2.15 Goodwood - COOL MACAVITY 22/1 EW dissapointed when going off as favourite in a Class 2 Handicap over 8f, was stepped up in distance to 10f next time out and was mightly impressive when staying on strongly, suggesting the distance suited his style. Once again he has young claimer Matthew Lawson on board who claims 7lbs which should be enough to put him in contention. At a shorter price but none the less attractive price is the un exposed Roger Varian trained BOOGIE SHOES at 9/1.

2.45 Goodwoood - My two against the field here are AMOUR PROPRE 11/2 and KINGSGATE NATIVE 11/2 both who have decent Group OCmpany form to their names, however, LTO AMOUR PROPRE suggested he was close to getting back to winning ways albeit in Listed Company, has a crackng draw and is my selection to win.

3.15 Goodwood - a key indicator in past years for this race has been that horses with previous race at Ascot generally do well, BLUE BAJAN 16/1 never really got going LTO, today he is dropped back to 2m and Group 2 Company the distance and company of his last win when he went off as favourite and ran on strongly. The other ones i like are last years runner up ELECTROLYSER 16/1 and the ZAROONI trained OPINION POLL 11/2 who got to within 3l of FAME AND GLORY in the Ascot Gold Cup LTO, has winning form over this distance, and is my selection against the field here today.

3.45 Goodwood - SHIPS BISCUIT 22/1 EW this talented Michael Stoute filly is one I have followed since her debut and has been tried an tested at distances from 1 to 2m, her run in this race last year was at best average, however, in her only other run over todays distance at Newmarket she ran on well in Class 1 Listed Company and got to within 3l of the William Haggass trained Gelding HARRIS TWEED. I think todays race is one she has been aimed for and with SMS starting to produce winners i think she will go well at a very attractive price.

4.55 Goodwood - SHROPSHIRE 11/1 EW the Barry Hills trained Colt got to within 10l of the very talented FRANKEL in the Gp 3 Greenham Stakes back in April on similar ground, that day the Richard Hannon trained STRONG SUIT was 3l behind my selection that day. His recent win in Gp 2 Company franks that form line and if he can produce anywhere near that form today he should be there or there abouts on the run in and is my NAP for today.

5.25 Goodwoood - KINYRAS 5/1 SMS trained Colt who didnt quite stay the distance LTO, when well beaten by yesterdays CLass 2 Handicap winner WHIPLASH WILLIE, strangely he steps up in distance today suggesting that SMS feels he will need further.

    Afternoon all

2.15 Goodwood LABARINTO (5-1 BOG)- A difficult looking race to start the card at Goodwood this afternoon but I am hopeful of a big run from my selection Labarinto. He looks to be progressing nicely and if he is ridden more prominently today I would expect him to reverse form with the Luca Cumani trained Fulgur. Labarinto is 9lbs better off for a 4 length defeat by that rival last time out at Newmarket and considering Ryan Moore got no run until Labarinto started to stay on late it has to be said he looked unlucky not to be closer. I have backed 3 Sir Michael Stoute horses this week and all have gone down by just a neck so I will be hoping for a change of luck here.

2.45 Goodwood AMOUR PROPRE (11-2 BOG) – Another puzzling race and I get the feeling that if Kingsgate Native was to return to the sort of form that seen him finish 2nd in the Temple Stakes earlier in the season he will win this easily, although slightly disappointing a few times this season he has been tried in very good races and different headgear has been experimented with. I do fear him a lot in this race but I will take a chance with Amour Propre who returned with a fine 2nd at York after along lay off. That outing should have put him spot on and if similar form I am hopeful he can reverse form with Masamah who won that York race.

3.15 Goodwood OPINION POLL WIN & LOST IN THE MOMENT (11-2 AND 16-1 BOG) – A good renewal of the Goodwood Cup and I am hopeful that Godolphin can land the prize, Opinion Poll found only the top class Fame And Glory too good in the Ascot Gold Cup and a repeat of that effort should be good enough to land this race this afternoon, the drop to 2m shouldn’t be a problem and with Frankie Dettori riding he has to have leading claims. I have had an E.W saver on Lost In The Moment who looks to be the Godolphin 2nd string. He is a horse I have followed since he was in training with Jeremy Noseda, he looked a nice sort at Meydan this year for Godolphin and has continued to progress with some cracking efforts in handicaps and a listed heat since his return from the carnival. He should appreciate the step up in distance and I am hopeful he can run on in to a place today.

3.45 Goodwood MEEZNAH (9-1 BOG) This looks a very interesting race and Wild Coco looks the likely winner. However at 13-8 I feel she is very short and looking at her victory last time out I feel that the runner up Meeznah will be suited by this step up to 1m6f having stayed on very strongly to only go down by half a length to Sir Henry Cecil’s filly. There is no obvious reason why she should reverse form but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this short priced favourite get turned over and at the prices Meeznah looks the value.

4.55 Goodwood TUSCANIA (7-1 BOG NAP) A decent looking handicap but I am confident that Tuscania will prove to be a lot better than her current handicap mark (90), she looked a smart prospect at 2 when winning her maiden before running 5th in a listed heat at Newbury when on the wrong side. Tuscania showed she still has plenty of ability when returning at Newmarket last time out, she ran a fine staying on 4th and looked to be hampered at a crucial stage. She probably would have stood no chance with the winner that day but certainly would have been closer. Although she will probably do better once stepped up in distance she looks to be a nice price today and hopefully she will be able to run them down late in the race.

    One horse today for me.

3.15 Goodwood LOSTINTHEMOMENT- Looks a horse on the up and has shaped as if screaming for further. Granted this is an unknown but I think this has a good chance if buick can settle him in a good position early, which he might be able to given the draw.

Disappointed Cothrom Na Feinne didn't get into the Galway Hurdle as a reserve and will now plump for Moon Dice 25/1 in the same race.
