I do not fancy any of the principals from the Epsom Oaks as the winner Dancing Rain will not be allowed a soft uncontested lead at The Curragh, Wonder Of Wonders odds are a reflection of hype rather than ability (O'Brien will have the excuses book ready if she is defeated) and Blue Bunting has to reverse form with both of them. Jim Bolger's Banimpire was a good winner at Royal Ascot and has done nothing wrong so I expect her to put the Ballydoyle contingent in their place. Interesting to read in yesterday's Racing Post that Arc Sunday may be returning to Channel Four. That would be good news for armchair punters in the UK as the BBC coverage last year was a joke and it is clear that their racing coverage these days is fundamentally concerned with the social calendar (Epsom Derby, Royal Ascot, Grand National) rather than just quality horse racing. As I will be at Longchamp, I will see every race both days so the lack of BBC coverage ought to be a matter of indifference. With the weather forecast for the early part of this week, it looks like the King George on Saturday could turn out to be a cracker as the ground must be good enough for everyone in Berkshire.
Well done General. Wonder of wonders just seemed a soft favourite, maybe she didn't fore but she wasn't a betting proposition.
"3.05 Melodize 4.15 Pepper Lane 4.45 Christmas Light 5.15 Wood Fairy" 1 from 2 so far, one more to make it a profitable bet
Nice one general! What were the odds of that double! Today was a no bet day today, but I did fancy laughing lashes in the 3.45 today big price , thought stamina would have come in to the race which she has got! with the soft ground_ (didnt see the race) was it a well run race??
Woolcombe it was a truly run race and you would be spitting feathers if you had backed it as the jock dropped his whip with a furlong to go!
The only thing I found to be wrong with the running of the race was that I continued my run of big race seconds. The race was run at a decent clip thanks to Amazing Beauty and there did not appear to be any sob stories. The fancied horses all had their chances if good enough. I could see that Dettori was going to win as Blue Bunting started her run in the last furlong. She got there in the shadow of the post but this really just confirmed my opinion that the three-year-old fillies this year are not very good. If Blue Bunting goes for the Yorkshire Oaks I will be opposing her with one of the older fillies, depending on who shows up.
Double paid just over 16/1, early bird catches the worm and all that. Thought it was a fair race and there can be no excuses for any of the others. Wonder of wonders just leaves me wondering, twice she's had ample opportunity but not been able to go past.
Well done today Nass Im just glad I didnt put any money on her! I still fancy her to win a big race maybe not this season but next!
