So you got your money back?! It's bad form not to refund, but i guess if they can get away with it they may as well keep the money, still it's not tightening relations between bookies and punters.

I didn't back her but I have heard of other people getting their money back if they kick up enough of a fuss.

Harry has already told them to shove it man. Would bet 1 million he was approached but they will not mention it.

Harrys shadey background is surely too big a risk for the FA? Surely would have been a matter of time before people started coming out of the woodwork selling their stories for vast sums?

If Roy gets the job it will be one of the proudest days I've ever had as a West Brom supporter.

I know a lot of you will cast doubts and see Harry as number one. I get that- entertaining football, bit of a peoples champion, etc. But Roy Hodgson has been there and experienced it all before at International, European, and Domestic levels. He has done a wonderful job at Fulham-European finalists, and West Brom- the top Midlands team for the first time in abour 30 years. Ignore the Liverpool stint, that was a sinking ship that King Kenny couldn't rescue with £100m, so that tells you all you need to know. As well as Gerrard not liking him (he practically runs the club), and Dalgish overseeing from the boardroom. He stood no chance, and was nerver given any chance.

If he can see out the early storm, he'll be one of the best appointments since Bobby Robson. He is a coach who brings them along gradually and I think is tailor-made for knockout football like the Euros and the World Cup. He has to get the squad on his side and that means picking youth and ousting the old guard- Gerrard/Terry/Ferdinand/Lampard all must go. He'd be a perfect manager for a group of younf international players.

If he gets the job, I wish him the very best and I will throw my full support behind him as he is a cracking bloke. A great role-model.

I think the Harry case is him not being sure if he wants it and the FA not being sure if they can deal with him!

Hodgson is a cracking coach, criminally underrated and one who will be suited by international football.

We can analyse it for as long as we want though. We seem to be looking for some sort of Oracle appointment who will guarantee England a major trophy. We're nowehere near the skillsets of Spain/Brazil/Argentina/Holland/Germany and therefore we shouldnt expect to do anything until we improve our grassroots football over the next 25 years. Hodgson will be perfect for the likes of Micah Richards, Kyle Walker, Jack Wilshire, Joe Hart, Alex Chamberlain, as they will all get experience and guidance under him and will allow us to coach into a new generation and get rid of the old. Do you not think he could be similar to Bobby Robson if he can weather the early storm?

Maybe you are right in regards to Harry.

As for Hodgson I am more than willing to support him but as you say people can't expect to win a trophy straight away. Whoever they appoint they need to give time.

Cheers Brian Barwick (The Don) <ok>

Very disappointed to hear that Roy Hodgson is being lined up as next England manager. He may be good at turning a bunch of nobodys into a half-decent team but for me his spell at Liverpool says he can't manage in the big time. Add to all that he has about as much passion and personailty as a corned beef sandwich then I can only see ignominy and an early exit from the euros. I feel like I did when Graham Taylor was appointed <doh>

Sorry Toppy, can't help thinking club allegiances are tainting your view here mate

Is the England job a poisoned chalice? With the constant reminder of 66, (was it?) is any manager on almost a hiding to nothing? Would a semi in the Euros be a pass mark? How about a final 8 in the WC?

The expectations placed on team and manager are ridiculously high Cyc, we are nowhere near the top 4 in the world and haven't been since (probably) 1990 under Bobby Robson. Whoever takes over is on a hiding to nothing really.

With my extensive Rugby League knowledge, I could turn this team of pussies into an invincible force. We'd leave no bone unbroken on our way to the top.

A sugar-coated poisoned chalice, I would say. The trappings at Lancaster Gate are first-class and Ericsson, for one, was very well paid and the job turned-out to have unexpected extras. Capello, since quitting the post, has told the Italian press on more than one occasion what a damn good job it was, and had nothing bad to say about the F.A. The problem with Terry was his undoing, of course. Capello did very well with the England team in the group stages of the last WC, but lost it a bit just before, and in South Africa. Taking Heskey there finished me with Fabio, I could not understand that for the life of me.

Sorry, as much as I like Rugby, don't go for that pussy jibe, tongue in cheek or not. I understand an Australian Rules player recently described RL players as a bunch of fruits with strange accents. Quite untrue, but I did LMAO...........

AFL? Now they are fruits. Their game is little more than a glorified game of cross country tennis. It's known by non AFL fans as aerial ping pong. A hip and shoulder is concidered hard play <laugh> Real men play Rugby.
